Hillclimbing an EK9.

Cheers guys, unfortunately I didn't get to try the Mugen rep header as I have been struggling with a trapped nerve in my back but I will keep you posted when I get it fitted.:naughty:

Well done mate
You should all be proud!
How old are your daughters if you don't mind me asking?

They are going to be 24 in January!!(twins) Boy do I feel old (45 in a few days)

I use the EK9 every day as a road car and really love the little thing! I'm even looking into a reverse rotation B16B for another project!! Great little engines.

Afternoon all, well since the season has finished I have done absolutely diddley squat to the EK apart from use it pretty much every day for work etc, still exactly how it finished the last event but as the time will be soon upon us for the new season to start I suppose I best get my backside in gear and order a few little bits. I need to change the lower ball joints and replace the front wishbones for adjustable so I can get a little more camber into the tyres, what would you guys recommend as a decent make of Wishbone set up.

Wow, we'll done sir, breaking records despite your weight disadvantage over other competitors :D you are definitely a highly skilled driver matched with a very good car

Would love to see you in action, please post some videos for us this coming season. Keep up the good work for us EK9 owners!

The front wishbone you can get Skunk2 Pro series adjustable camber arms, they also do rear adjustment types. Buddy Club is another make you could consider as well.

Thanks Ray, it's just the front really. I need to dial in 1/2 degree of Neg camber to get the tyres working at 100%. the rears are working great as they are. It seems with the standard rear geometry that as you lower so you gain a little neg.

Yes I was very pleased to do so well, I have been racing Escorts for a long time and the EK was the first FWD car I have raced in anger. My daughter is champing at the bit for this season so look out, I may do one or two events with it to make sure the mods are working but the plan is to do more away with one of my Escorts, Loton Park, Harewood and Gurston maybe.I will however kit her out with a camera.
Thanks for the info it is most appreciated.
I will update with some piccies when i sort out the exhaust etc.

Regards
John.

Great man!!! What brand of road tyres do you use? AD08? RS-R?

I settled for Kumho Ecsta V700/V70 in Super soft on the rear and Medium on the front. Pretty impressed if I'm honest, for road tyres they do work very well straight out of the blocks.
If I were to do longer events then harder compounds would be a must though.
Very progressive feel and good grip, but then I haven't used anything else so there may be better tyres out there.
Mind you 8 events for the car and 8 course records (7 for me 1 for daughter) so pretty good average. :))

My piece de resistance though for 2012 has to be breaking the outright roadgoing saloon car course record at an event in the pouring rain! (held by an Integrale) That was fun.

Well I've only gone and bought another EK9!!

This one is going to be a rally car so if anyone needs any trim bits let me know as I will be stripping the interior. My daughters have a lot to answer for. :)

Here's a couple of piccies from our main Motorsports presentation last Saturday.
Overall Island champion for the 3rd year running. 3rd place was a 600bhp Chevy
powered racing car 2nd place was a Methanol burning 2.0 carbon tubbed Dallara.
1st place EK9. Points are accumulated against course records and the one with the most points wins.

This picture was cool, they put it on screen when they handed out my 1st place trophy which is the last one of approx 120 Motorsport awards presented on the night.

This is going to be mental, considering you wher thrashing the competition in a full weight road car,.. just shows how well tuned ek9's are from the factory, and when paired with a good driver are fairly invincible :win:

That's great.
2nd and 3rd proper money pits with crazy specs 1st place: ek9 lol

^^ so cool :) congrats with all the success cant wait to see some vids.

EK9s Rule but only as much as the driver lets them ;) well done
