Here is something that baffeld me for a while. Mostly due to my lazyness to research it but oh well. As some of you may know there are quite a few Intake manifold options to go for when it comes to the K series. Every time I see a K build there is always quote's of PRC, RBC, RRC.... :blabla:. So I thought it was about time I found out what they all are and more importantly which performes best for what setup.

I found a usefully link some of you may have seen. To me it seemed like a good reveiw to show each manifold's strengths with some good old back to back Dyno tuning and testing on the same engine.

What intake will you be using if you going or are already Kseries?

Also it was amusing to see that even on a 220+whp K20 the 70mm throttle body didn't make any more power even with tuning than the tappered 64mm one. Food for thought for those still claiming their 70mm TB gained them loads of torque throughout on their B18C's ;)

it all depend on your horsepower goal, budget, daily drive or for race.....

OEM manifold everybody knows RRC is the best and the one that give's you the most hp. i've seen people push 300whp with RRC ( ported ) or even RBC ( ported )
then you have aftermarket manifolds..just to name a few...

Heard good things about the AFI and IPS intakes Oscar. I had TWM throttle bodies but had to sell due to family ****, gutted.

yes i'am familiar with AFI..a few of my friends have them on their turbo and all motor cars expensive but it works..

im also very familiar with XCESIVE,RRC,RBC they really work bad ass too..

i was gonna use XCESIVE on my motor but i decided not to. because i want KINSLER ITB'S 60mm or 62mm

Im going to be buying an intake for my 2.1 toda stroked k. Was going to go RRC, but AFI etc are sweet. Need to run a half size rad though AFAIK? How much do them intakes go for in the states?

If you going build k20 then go for the skunk2 intake manifold if not get the RRC .

A bigger throttle body, combined with other mods/tune will only give you improved throttle response, not massive hp rise.

BuddyClub UK also do a fully ported RBC (not just the opening), its approx £600 though. I run the RBC port matched to a 70mm tb, many claim a 15-20bhp rise, It netted me 5 with no change in torque..

I'm getting an RRC plus fd2 throttle body fitted to my fn2 tomorrow that plus the exhurst manifold should change my car for the better.

Forgot to say don't forget to fit a hondata heat shield gasket aswell :)

Anybody looked into the RSP manifold. Think its the stock one on the FN2 and has a type of individual velocity stack trumpet setup inside the plenum.

RBC vs RSP(euro type R) intake manifold - K20A.org .:. The K Series Source . Honda / Acura K20a k24a Engine Forum

They are finding that is gains throughout the low and mid range over the RRC and only looses out a little past 8500rpm. Also if you want to gain it back you can get a set of shorter trumpet machined up to go inside. Seems like the perfect manifold for K22 or K24 setups as power over 8500rpm wont be needed.

Im still reading up to see what the fittment isssues are on different kswaped chassis as it looks a bit bigger than the RBC and RRC.

Will you be selling your standard RSP manifold once you fit the RRC?

Would be intresting to see another before and after, both with tuning comparison on the same engine.

Edit: Another example.

Think once I get my ass in gear and get my teeth into a K20/24 I will be using the FN2's RSP

Funny enough we where looking at this the other week. My friend was ordering stuff from Honda and we where looking for an RRC to see how much it was out of curiosity and my mate spied this intake. Will have to look into it

Yea thats the one. Has a kind of 4 stack trumpet design inside the plenum.

How were the results after swaping to the RRC?

What I have found is the RRC will give slightly better torque between 2-6k rpm, after that it seems to be on par with RBC. Hard justify the couple of hundred extra for RRC really.

Vtec6000 have you used the RSP manifold at all and had good results?
