there is a video on youtube about the 96spec itr vs the 98 spec itr. 96 has 4.4 and the 98 has 4.78. both do the 1/4 mile in the exact same time. so is it really worth it??? If you were to have 220bhp in each car instead of the 197 would the third gear in 4.4 make a bigger differnce as more power would be goin through it???
watch

the 98+itr with the 4.785 FD has a longer 4th and 5th thats why they end up the same in quarter mile, but if you put a 4.785 FD in the 96-97 integra R it will be MUCH faster than the 98+ or in a ctr it will be much faster also.

I recommend this mod since I installed a 4.78 final drive, the difference is very noticeable since the car will accelerate faster :)

for 500euro would it be worth it as it would have the better diff also.. n thats fitted aswell. the ctr's have a 4.4 fd which is the same as the 96/97 itr's. but the itr has a better diff/lsd as far as i know

if it was my choice id go 4.9 esp if its a ctr. if ur going to do it do it rite... its an emense diff, i seen a slow ek4 become very very fast juts by adding the fd.

i own a 98 spec teg... god i wish they lowerd 4th and 5th too, i can understand 5th for economey but 3rd-4th is sad.... only bad thing honda ever done ha ha

i have an eg track car and its a d series... i went from 4.2 - 4.9.. and holy god... rackon it would be as quick as an sir, vti..... well worth the 650 euro ex fitting!!!

but i have already have the power with a b18c fitted in the car

I've recently changed the FD in my CTR to 4.785, I reccomend that if you want to get your moneys worth, do the 4.9. To me, 4.785 didn't make that much difference, only had to change gears more often when driving in lower revs. If your using it for the street then you wont be doing 180kmph regularly. Yes it does lower top speed, but only around 20kmph.

only the FD is different between 96 n 98 ITR gearbox?
99% sure yes :nice:

nobody reads my post

to say it clearly:
the 96-97 ITR has same gearing as b16b with a 4.4 FD
the 98+ITR has same gearing 1-3 as 96-97ITR but 4th and 5th are longer and it has a 4.785 FD.

so while the FD is shorter in the 98+ it has the same top speed and acceleration as the 96-97 itr due to the fact that the 98+ has longer 4th and 5th gear.

oops :( blinx9900 is correct :blinx:

i think but dont hold me to this but because of the fd differences it works out the 4th and 5th are slightly longer in the 98 spec so there fore it technically has higher top end (slight differences) thats how the 96 equals it in 1/4 mile.... drop the 96 spec 4th and 5th gear into a 98 spec and see her go!!!:naughty:
