My EK coupe build up

Ron, if you have deep pockets then you could insure a vti but i wouldnt, much better buying an ej9 or something like that and then work your way up to a vti

Tama ive got a JDM 96 spec B18 waiting to go in, the D16 is now out so hopefully wont be long till its in

thanks steve. Working up the way might be a good choice =]

Thanks steve!

Looking good mate, really like this coupe.
Should be awesome when the B18 is in, deffos the way to go and worth in the insurance!

Wee update on the progress of this

Removed the engine/gearbox, front subframe with steering rack and anti roll bar etc. Took the front hubs off along with the coilovers and suspension arms

Then took off all the brackets etc so it was as bare as possible to make life a bit easier to paint the engine bay.

Engine bay is now fully painted in Nighthawk black to match the body of the car. Decided to remove the arch liners and underseal the front arches since eveything was out the way to begin with

Began the rebuild now, Ive replace the front subframe, rack, ARB and lower arms with EK9 ones. Refitted the hubs and coilovers etc. Got new brake pipes to mate up with my Goodridge hoses.

Got a few odds and ends i wanna get sorted and out the way before the engine goes in, planning to get it in this weekend if everything goes to plan!

Heres a couple of pics to keep this interesting

Me and a mate got the engine in on saturday. Also got the driveshafts on and gear linkages put in place :D

Waiting on a rear mount bracket and n/s torque mount tuning up... still need to gearbox torque mount bracket though if anyone has one

more updates soon!

The car now runs! Started it today, not had it running long as its idling quite high.. gonna sort that tomorrow and see how its running

Sadly i noticed water dripping from under the car, so theres a coolant leak somewhere :( gonna have to try and hunt that down now

Cheers mate

done a bit more work over the last couple of days

adjusted the idle so cold ilde is now 1500rpm, also fitted a vti driveshaft as the one that was supplied with the engine didnt fit for some reason

bought a new heater matrix which will hopefully sort the water leak, just waiting on that arriving then il get the dash out it

hopefully not be too long till its on the road again!

We got it running fine, found out where 1 of the 2 random plugs go (under the inlet mani) and fitted the airbox, now it's hunting like mad around 1500, got new heater matrix to fix the leak, replaced manifold gasket, should hopefully been done soon :D

Aye, all im really needing to do now is, clean out the IACV as its gunked up big time.. then see if thats solved the rough idle

work out why one of the exhaust manifold bolts goes tight before its ful clamped the gasket

rebleed the brakes and try to actually get a brake pedal

then pull the dash out and change the heater matrix and hopefully thatll sort the water leak

the drive the thing!

Update for this

Got the car running and built all back up a few weeks ago. Went to drive it and the car was hesitating big time around 1500rpm, replaced the TPS and that went away but the car was idling very high (around 2000rpm) and felt like it was hitting a limiter at around 3000 rpm

In the end i got my mate Gerry from Performancetek to check the codes for me and cast his experienced eye over the car

He picked it up last friday evening and i got it back saturday afternoon!
Sadly it is needing an IACV as the current one is buggered and was revving the car to 3500rpm when slowing down at junctions, which obviously isnt ideal. So he disconnected it, which meant the car would cut out when the revs dropped to idle... made the drive back from Glasgow to Edinburgh interesting!

Hopefully the IACV will turn up tomorrow and i can get it fitted.. dying to take this thing for a proper drive!
