EK9 Racecar

I have those parts you wanted.
Just need an address and I'll get them over to you

Ah brilliant, sent you a PM bud :nice:

Just waiting on parts now really, got some arriving tomorrow hopefully, once they arrive I can start putting the engine back together.

Been doing lots of cleaning, pictures of me cleaning the rocker cover.
Need to weld in some breathers, they will arrive in the US package!

Used nitromors, wire brush and a light session in the shot blaster.

Not sure what colour to paint it, will have a think...

Awsome progress mate! Personally I would just go wrinkle red again, it can't be beaten in my eyes on a b series rocker & it is a Type R after all :)

Nice job on the cover prep mate. Do it sane colour as car

Thanks for the kind comments guys.
Red is the nuts, but @irf I like the sound of NH-O.
I've got to order some paint for the engine bay, I'm sure I'll have enough to do the rocker also....
Will think about it, thanks for your inputs :nice:

Just a heads up.... I know a few people who have ruined an engine, oil pump, bearings etc after sand blasting a Honda rocker cover

Is shot blasting the same as sand blasting?

A mate of mine did this and after I warned him he used a degreasing bath and an air line to clean the cover out. Curiosity got the better of him and he removed the baffles to find loads of sand stuck under them even after thoroughly cleaning the cover

He was glad I warned him!!

Oh yes, I'm aware. I did block off the inside of the cover with cardboard and taped up all the holes etc. A very small amount of shot got in.
Yeh it's the same as sand blasting, just uses grit instead of sand.

I may well remove the baffles too, can you put them back in afterwards?

Thanks for the warning though bud :nice:

No problem, would hate to see an engine build ruined

Not sure to be honest they are riveted on

Yeh I'd be in tears of I ruin my engine over something silly, we have a bore scope at work, I will use it to see behind the baffle to see if there's any grit hiding.

Yeah 100% take the baffles off mate. Its the same on my evo rocker, drilled out for some breather lines and all the swarf gathers under the baffle. Chisel the heads off the rivets, take baffles off, drill the holes, honda bond the lip, refit baffles with new rivets. Looks neat as factory when done :)

Sounds like a plan! I'll do that just to be sure. Thanks for the advice mate!

Yeah i would 100% recommend it because the last thing you want is a damage cam or bearing for like a couple of hours worth of extra work. If you need any help just give me a shout.
Heres a picture of my evo rocker with the baffles removed and new holes drilled. I thought i had one of when it was complete but seem to have lost it!

Obviously taking the heads off the rivets and re drilling the holes creates more mess but lots of thinners and rags soon sorts it out.

Cheers bud :nice:
It is totally worth the extra time to do!
I'll be doing this soon.
Thanks again

So I took the baffle out and good job I did! Not loads of grit but enough to cause a problem.

And some parcels arrived!!!

So what's in the box? A boosting device?

Most of the parts I need to build the engine back up are here now, will start the rebuild next week.
Just weighing my Pistons and taking measurements today. :))
It's getting exciting now! Really enjoying the engine building process!
Going to take my time and do it right! I hope! :blinx:
Thanks for following my thread guys.
