have a b18c6 sump with 2 x 1-2mm holes, will welding these up be a safe and permanent fix or should it be binned ?

also does anyone know what method is used on honda ek9/itr sumps to paint them ? is it a stanard paint, powdercoat, special treatment etc ?

just that ill probably have baffles welded in future but still end up in storage for long time and dont want rust to cover them so want to have them treated same as sump

IMO i would say have the hole's welded would be fine as long as it is done properly!

I have a mate who run's his own metal Fabrication business, & is very good at welding if you dont know anyone for the job!:secret:

I am not 100% sure on the method used to paint them but i would put my money on powdercoated!

It's painted.

I wouldn't bother painting it again - I'd spray it down with some WD40 and put it in a plastic bag and seal it.

I'd paint the outside though.

exactly, as far as welding damage i would have to see a pic but if the holes are small like you say i would have it repaired or but a used one, which ever was cheaper...

dont paint the inside of your sump,
the factory stuff is baked on enamel,

TSR performance painted the inside of my dad`s audi sump when they baffled it and the paint came off and blocked the oil pump and ruined the bottom end of the engine,,

ill get pics up of holes, prob just go with ra advice, have some high temp black paint i can just stick on outside of sump on welds
