Had a nightmare at the weekend trying to remove the stem seals, was using a tool like this that my dad has used for years but f**k me, they would not budge!!

I think the problem is that this tool just clamps around them so if anything can crush the seals on the guides tighter, it doesn't have any lip to go under the seal

Can anyone recommend a tool, especially one that can be bought in the uk as i don't wanna loose weeks just building the head :(

I'm in Manchester if anyone would be kind enough to help/lend too.

Thanks

They are hard to get off in general, I use the tool that you have posted above.

If you try to wriggle them off by rocking from side to side it should help. They are easier to get off when they haven't been on the guides as long

Getting them off can be a pain but they are never going back on so I tend to be pretty rough with them and butcher them off with pliers. Putting them on is easy of you have the right tool lol.

They have been on for a good 100k or so and really don't wanna move, will try being a bit more persuasive with them. GRR

Left the head at my dads work to have another go at on Sat... apparently my dad got them off yesterday in about 2 minutes, bit of heat to soften the rubber and they came straight off. Doh!

Very fine chisel (sharpened screwdriver) and tap it down the side to cut through the metal band round them (not the spring). Then pull them off with the pliers.

As above they came off very quickly with a little heat and without any brutality
