Hey guys. I will get straight to it..... I have a 96 Hatch CX, i want a b18b (for now) for hpde as a start.... What do i need besides the axles, ecu, engine/transmission and shift linkage? b18b is a bit more fun than the d16 in there now and comes with more torque for track days. Also, a huge thing, i want to B.A.R. certify it with the b18b so that the cops here in California do not give me any crap. Thanks guys...

Best thing to do is visit your local REF station and discuss it with them, they will tell you what you need to make it all legal :nice: If your going to be doing RR and AX i highly suggest you at least use a GSR or B16 transmission, the long gearing of the LS transmission and wide gaps will make it a frustrating drive...

thanks dude, i am visiting the ref next week! also thanks for the heads up on the gearing, i was thinking about that yesterday. i guess i can sell it to some guy with a turbo er something hahaha

actually the LS trans is worthless even to turbo guys, that that whole LS trans is great for turbo thing is just a BS myth... either way you should not have a problem selling it, some people like the longer gears cause you get a bit more traction but thats only cause your going slower, whatever...

What about the exhaust? I will need a new cat but will the stock ek exhaust bolt up the the b18b? It just now hit me....

you 96 CX has the cat incorporated into the factory exhaust manifold which WILL NOT bolt up to the b18b head. What you will need to do is run the OEM exhaust manifold and cat from the Integra LS or maybe even a 1996 Civic EX cat with the OEM LS exhaust manifold.

Now that's all fine and dandy and will pass the sniffer BUT! The rules say that the VEHICLE has to keep ALL of its original smog equipment. But that is impossible as mentioned above. So your kind of fudging it, most likely the REF will see an OEM cat in what appears to be the factory location (under the car) but in reality factory location for you is in the engine bay... all i can say is good luck!
