So there's a few on here doing new engines . Need to run my engine in any of u know a good way , I think u need to put a lot of cycles in to the engine with loads on and off , going to run that driven break in oil as it has a high ZZP . My civic is a race car so I cannot use it on the road. Was think of booking a trackday a drive it like a granny ,For the first two hours. My car was mapped last year , only thing I have changed is the injectors and pistons . Rolling road charge £120 an hour

I'm going to run mine in on the dyno, just before the final mapping starts.
Basically light load (up and down the revs) for 10mins.
Then step up the load and revs abit for another 10mins.
Eventually end up on full throttle full revs up and down still.
Swap oil and filter out and crack on.
Personally I don't see what good babying the engine is going to do? Doing more harm than anything from what ive read.

That's the idea mate yes.
I'll be doing it that way, can't be faffing about for 1000 miles or something like that. Just get it warm and then find out how good a builder you are lol

That's the spirit lol

Could end in tears on my part but only one way to find out! Lol

Same here.

Not a single f**k was given when i decided to break in my motor in the dyno lol...
a year later still running like a champ...

If you've changed the compression ratio with the new Pistons and changed to bigger injectors then your old map could potentially be way off for your new set up.

As others have said get it on the dyno

My old B20 was run in on the dyno aswell, 2/3 years later still running fine too.

My high comp B18 will be run in on the dyno similarly to Jesse's.

I've read that babying the engine for 1000 miles does more harm than good also. I read that it's crucially important to get the rings to seal immediately as the roughness of the hone on the cylinder walls will wear off and if they've not sealed by this point they won't & it'll use oil.

Apparently the first 20 mins of running an engine in is the most crucial phase & running it in on a dyno up to temp & hard is the best way to do it.

Controversial subject! You will get many different opinions on this. I wrote a quick guide I use for engine run in on someone's build thread, if you search back through my old posts you will find it. I had one engine for run in and mapping Friday afternoon, it got approx 30mins of run in time then mapped to full load/26psi boost pressure, no issues whatsoever and ran great!

Your write up was on rybeans build thread iirc.
