Rebuilt engine, slight loss of oil pressure plus other symptoms.

I've thrown them now. Just small metal particals caught in the corners of the mesh.
Nothing on the inside, just wet with oil

Let me go dig it out and stick a magnet on it.
Give me 10mins

The oil pump sucks the oil through the single threaded fitting so sounds normal

You sure? I thought it pushed it through the centre fitting.
The pictures aren't great, but some has been picked up by the magnet and some hasn't, I ran a good 3/4 of a filters worth and what you see on the plug is what was picked up.

Some of it could be from the filter housing. I chiseled it open and there was some green flakes in the filter(from the oil filter housing)

I think it sucks it through the filter. That way the pump is only pumping pre-filtered oil. I suppose different manufacturers, may do it different ways. But either way the centre hole is the exit of the filter.

The amount on that plug its impossible to tell if its filings from filter or small particles from elsewhere, nothing overly alarming anyway. The most alarming thing for me was you said you found a piece of piston in there that you missed when rebuilding.

The way I see it you have two options.
1: flush the complete s*** out of it with a new filter and new pump, examine what comes out of it. Then put good stuff in and watch it like a hawk.

or

2: rebuild it

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was a peice of piston. I crushed it and it crumbled like cast metal would.
Ordered a new pickup pipe aswell.
I'll flush it out with option one. Fr the cost of afew filters and some oil it's worth a shot.
Option 2 is likely To happen over next winter anyway

Next week should be going again.

Unless you could see ring grooves or piston like markings I would still be questioning its real identity buddy!

It was tiny, you'd never know where it came from 100%

Got two of the filters open. One I know isn't the filter im after so tossed it.
BOTH filters have metal caught in the OUTER filter mesh but none in the INNER mesh.
What's up with that? As far as I'm aware the oil comes up the centre of the filter and out the edges right?
Can it even work backwards?
Surely I'd have it on the inside aswell.

You have it reversed.
Good news that the filter stopped metal. It should not be on the inside.

Yeah I googled it shortly after.
Just got to hope that whatever caused the metal to be there wasn't made by the engine itself.
Otherwise it'll just keep eating pumps...

You are on the right track now!!!
Clean clean and clean more to try and flush anything that might be left. Hats off to you and good luck with getting up and running again.

I open most all of my filters...im just weird like that.

Looks like I will be doing the same for the forseeable future.

I am a nurse and everyday i flush veins lol I see that my 9 will be like a baby. Always give good care as it was human body :) Maybe what you need Jesse is be patient aand before turbocharge an high compression engine as is B16B... spend some good money to forge your engine. I am a kind of a beginer but just trying to help and give some advice as i would like to receive!
