just about everyone ive spoke to about this mount say its nightmare to remove and install new one

ive got new oem mount so looking for tips to make it easier and exact tools required to change, i gather 4 bolts hold it in place ?

or should i just give to garage and let them do it (ill be on drive so very limited space)

um, i dont think its that hard... on 92-95 civic its hard but not on ek... just my opinion though...

its a pain in the a** on eg civics...ek's arent too bad tho..its more time consuming...ull need a 19mm and 17mm socket for the 4 bolts an a few socket extensions could come in handy

is it best to access/remove by getting under car or extension bars from above engine bay

also by removing 4 bolts will it easily come out or other brackets etc have to be removed

Done this a few months ago on my EK9. Its a bitch:D Wouldnt like to have to do it everyday!

just been under car to replace wideband sensor and had look at mount, dont think im gonna attempt it, will just get garage to do it as know its pita

Me and EK9turbo are doing mine on Monday, i'll let you know how it goes.

I thought the passenger side torque mount was a PITA and I was only watching and holding bolts:D

cheers, ifunny coincidence, ive replaced torque mounts in past and was very easy and then fitted inserts which i removed

BUT today i thought id stick es inserts back in only to find i couldnt get centre nut of torque mount and rubber within mount just twists to point where if i turned anymore i think it would snap, i cant for the life of me rememeber how i did it last time

you guys actually use the torque mounts? i threw those things in the trash looooong time ago, i just have the main 3 mounts :nice:

You got Aircon on the one you did? lol

no air con, its not that, just that when you turn nut rubber section of mount twists to poiint where it seems its gonna snap

blinx, i actually considered that but not best idea with oem mounts

ive basically had look around and spoke to people who all say abolsute pain so decided to let garage do it, there gonna borrow me car so i can get to work and then back to them when ive finished so minimises inconvenience for me and lot of hassle

i actually just saw this post for the first time.. changing the rear engine mount is not too difficult on the EK. it's easy to take it out than it is to get the new one back in though.. i think the bolts holding the mount to the cross member are 3 17mm ones.. you will need to use two extensions but most importantly a swivel joint to get them all out.it will make your task MUCH easier :nice:

We had a lovely AC compressor and braket to remove first :p very tight space for the torque-wrench

Sow how much are they charging you? should take about 45min to 1hr if your doing everything safely and properly torqueing it all back up. not difficult just a bit time consuming and fiddle. Have to get the access spanners out.

You had to change yours before?

was charged £30 (included borrowing me a car for day) so got good price

they said it took them about an hour

BUT hears the **** news, the old mount was in superb condition so ive basically wasted huge chunk of money, guess ill have to just sell old mount to claw little money back
