Hello

I live in France and it's quite difficult to find a B16B engine. You don't imagine how lucky you are to have the opportunity to import cars from Japan :nice:

However, I find a engine on fastcarjapan website and hesitate to buy it. EK4 and EK9 are the same car but what are the key points to realise a good swap :
- gearbox (ek4 or ek9)
- ECU (ek9 I think)
- Engine mount (the same)
- harness (ek9)
- anything else ??

Do you know some used engine provider in UK ?

Regards
Franck

HI Frank,

I'm in the process of converting my ek3 into an ek9, but I've bought a cmplete front half cut, its much easier but then it cost more. ;)

As for your conversion, the gearbox is the same as is the engine mount.

En passant, je parles francais aussi :)

Ok
Where did U get the complete front ?

Tu es aussi sur japancar sous le pseudo yokohama 06 :D

ek4 and ek4 boxes are not the same!! your also gonna need axles.

Je lai achete en Malaisie.

Non je suis pas sur japancar :)

an dual syncro's on 1st 2nd an 3rd...but i think he ment they are the same fitment to the block

I may get slated for this but, I think going from the B16A in your EK4 to a B16B is just pointless. The difference in power is just not worth it, you would be much better off trying to get a B18C Teg R engine to make it worth your while.

ye you could be rite. cause im sure everyone knows the differences between ek4 and ek9. but if not your in the right place

very true. there is no difference in a straight line. you are better off putting a set of ek9 cams in rather than the engine swap as you will see better improvments they cams work very well in the b16a

Best suggestion so far....
all you really need is the IN cam. Exhaust have the same cam profile.

not sure about that one. im sure its just the teg that has the same outlet cam as the ek9 the b16a is diferent cause when i changed mine the lobes were nothing alike

yeah i think your right, i check my helms. The EX are the same on the R series with the exception on the CTR IN camshaft.

lol i thought that. they are easy mixed up. but its a very good mod to do and much cheaper than a b16b swap

unless he has the money and don't care...
we all might give our opinions but he's with the final word on what he wants to do.

Agreed!!!

Thanks guys: We're here to share opinion so I agree when you say that differences between both engines are quite short but it's the pleasure to drive the Type-R soul :)

However, I'll make the balance between technical issues and my real will

Maupassant: check you're MP :D

The EK9 is rated 185hp at the flywheel? Making it around 155-160 WHP.
My EK4 with the ITR cams and exhaust also makes 160WHP at 8300rpm..it can make even more if i let it rev to 8900rpm..all i need is a new ECU.

The next project I am going to do is the B18C because what I need is torque.

Does anyone know if I can drop the B18C engine in an reuse my OBD2A ECU, i.e without changing harness?

you have use the car's harness and not the motors, since integra are 2 piece harnesses. Also if you get the swap before 00, they swith to OBD2B from then on...
