Pic/info. request : Oil Cooler Installation

Appreciate all the feedback guys! Have an oil temp gauge I could use but don't know where I should mount the probe...Interesting about drilling and tapping the sandwich plate @SPek9 .

So I ordered:

Mocal thermostatic sandwich plate
16 Row Mocal radiator
Braided hoses fully asesembled/crimped and suitable for a Honda with the oil filter at the rear of the engine :nice:.

Will update with pics how/when I decide to mount the kit.

There isnt enough depth on the side of the mocal thermo sandwich plate to fit an oil temp sensor, I have removed the stat because my car is only used on the track and Im going to tap into were the stat went to give room for the temp sensor

On a b-series engine there is a port at the back drivers side of the head that you can buy an adapter for and simply thread it in and fit the oil temp sensor

You mean this one?
Id thought about using that and found an adaptor, it's the main oil gallery to the vtec solenoid iirc so should work fine I'd of thought

That's good to hear that it works pretty accurate, saved me the job of drilling and welding the sump

It's think it's either a 1/8 npt to 3/8 npt adaptor or 1/2" ,
I can't remember exactly so would need to measure,
Whatever size it is they are only a few £ on eBay

Something like this? I'd have a feeling it's 1/2" at the block, If someone could confirm that would be great!

Bsp Adaptor reducer Male 1/2" Bsp Male to 1/8" Bsp Female Pneumatic Air

I think your right

However I think it's a npt thread (taper)

Although it could also be a metric thread,

Luckily for me I have an adapter that fits left over from my water gauge fitting kit

Ordered a 3/8" NPT Male to 1/8" Female adapter, Another job ticked off the list! Hopefully it fits, was only a couple of quid if not.

Most temp gauge sensors are 1/8 NPT which is also a tapered thread

Just measured one up and it's more like 5/8 and it is slightly tapered:nerv:
(Outside diameter of the oem plug)

Eugh, I was going off this pic which is relating sticking a B16 head onto a B20 block and the oil feed required which is the same location, finding it very hard to get a dimension, most people sell an adaptor for the job but won't state sizes and charge like £15.00 - £20.00.

The standard plug has enough material to drill and tap if needs be

It's likely to be the same as the oem pressure sensor thread.
That's what I'd try first.

It's deffo bigger than the oem pressure sender, (which is 1/8 npt)

The one I measured was approx 15 mm but that was from a early b16a1 head, so there may be variations in size over the years

Ah right. Fair enough.
Only one way to find out....
