guys i found a pair of Crower Cams (63401-2) at a good price...but i never hear anyone that have this cams in italy or europe....

in USA they use this cams in big engine v8 i know.....

they are good cams for my little b16a2????

I'm running crower stage 3 cams in my build and they are making good power as an overall package with no problems thus far!

i have only seen 1 instance where a crower cam has broken, i have also seen cases with skunk2/toda/crane breaking also... no company is perfect...
second that. My friend`s B18C had skunk 2 as well and broke.

WHAT!!! your kidding right

as stated many cam manufacturer's have had failed units, you would be shocked to learn some TODA headers crack as do the highly desired Desmond Regamaster Evo wheels.

It does not make them a bad company, it happens...

LOL like you said it can happen to any cam/or part I was reacting to pimpinblackcivic statement that Crower cans snap all the time, that’s just not true, Crower make a great cam IMO one of the two or three best out there.

go read honda-tech then - crower have had more cams snap than any ive seen, a mate of mines crower cam exploded into 6 parts last month, i'm not saying other cams dont snap but there seem to be more examples of bad crower batches

I have only seen one instance with a bad crower cam and it was on a d16, i remember back in the day when skunk2 cams were braking all the time, everybody still uses them though... i dunno...

You know a cam snapping might not be a result of bad construction but a result of wrong installation. For instance skunk2`s need less torque when tightening them than OEM ones. That`s something that causes a broken cam. And not many mechanix know that, cause they ignore the manufacters instructions.

yes i do thanks - a cam running in an engine for 2-3k then snapping would tend not to point to installation though or it wouldve happened sooner

How about a cam being installed in a motor that has worn down cam caps or its worn down near the cam gears end, that could cause excessive movement causing the cams to vibrate and eventually snap.

I am not saying its not a problem with the cam itself, i am saying it isn't allways the case. Or it could have been dropped during shipping causing hairline fracture that eventually got worse, cams have to be very hard and in return they are brittle, they are not made to handle "shock"... There are so many possibilities its hard to say.

pateras_vtec you are correct, thats something i noticed recently when we put pro1's in my friends b18c, also the pro cams and there tuner cams have different tq specs for the cam gear and say NOT to use an impact gun!!

agreed on the one blinx - i had to return a snapped buddy club cam after it was damaged in transit, having seen the head the crowers were in I don't think there was anything untoward going on there but its hard to second guess.

i didnt say crower make bad cams, i just seem to have found a lot of people who had them break on them, the only reason i noticed this was when i was researching why my spec iv had snapped!

Yeah its hard to say, i wish there was some way to be sure to be able to fault the manufacture or shipping or poor install so we could stay away from companies that make bad products but with cams its just so hard to know the truth... I saw a crane cam break upon installation, before everything was even torqued down!! Who knows what happened there...

they are too difficult to catch....

if i catch ctr cams i buy them....(at a good price)
