I have a weird problem with my EG5. When I drive a constant speed, the oil pressure light goes on after 1 or 2 minutes. The faster my constant speed is, the faster it seems to happen.

However, when I drive 85mph/140kmh or faster (constant speed again), the light doesn't go on! When the light does go on, I switch my ignition on and off and the light stays off till after a few minutes again, it'll light up again.

Driving in the city which means continues acceleration, decceleration and braking, does not cause the light to go on.

Something elese is that it is using fuel as if it were a 300whp turbo'd engine, especially when I drive 85mph and faster. I'm talking 10-12 km's on 1 liter, while my car normally uses 1 liter every 12-16km. Anyone got an idea whats going on here?

jack the car up, use a 24mm deep socket, remove the oil pressure switch, taker it to a fittings place and make a cheap air-line adaptor that will allow the 1/8"BSP oil prssure switch to fit into it, then use a multimeter on the terminals. Check for continuity. while no air pressure is going onto the end, the switch should make a circuit. Plug it into an airline and gradually feed pressure onto it, and it SHOULD NOT make a circuit by 5psi+ or so.

If its making a circuit above say 10-15psi then you have a faulty sensor. Otherwise I would suggest removign the oil pump and inspecting it.
