weird, as not many had a 4.2 only the old EF Y box and the USDM tegs. is this a stock diff you get in say the EK9 and SIR?

I know that the EK4 has a 4.2 fd standard.....

the EK9 has a 4.4 so you need an EK9 final drive set to fit an ek9 LSD into an EK4 box and the same if your fitting a DC2 LSD

Not true, I found out the hard way when trying to install a 4.4 EK9 LSD into a standard S4C UK gearbox and the 4.4 EK9 ring gear would not mesh with the S4C countershaft

I then counted the teeth on both and discovered that the S4C has a 4.266 final drive ratio. Everyone thinks that the UK S4C has a 4.4 because they must have read it somewhere

Here is a link showing the exact differences in ratios and it shows the teeth count vs final drive ratio in the table at the bottom of the page

iam just trying to find the best way to make my Y1 box better for the b16b

Your Y1 has a 4.266 FD so a 4.7FD set made specifically for your box from Mfactory for example would make a nice difference

If you want to use a DC2 4.78 FD you will need to fit the DC2 countershaft and the 1st gear to make it work

A gearset to suit your local circuit will make the best acceleration gains but they are usually not suited to long journeys due to the high revs with a 5 speed box
