no vtec

lost all vtec seems to lose power when you hit 5500 but is normal up to then and loads of smoke when i hit 5500? no engine management light coming on and the light does work. not had time to check compression was just goin to get it done when we do the engine swap . when i start it cold sounds knocking noise for about 5 seconds then that stops.

anybody had this problem before. got a new engine goin in on the 18th but would like to sort out the problem before then

Does not sound to good. Do you think its your crank making the knocking? What colour is the smoke? Would say your piston rings may be shot

sounds like rod knock... don't drive on the car anymore!

ok wont drive it anymore its blue smoke which is oil eh? dont know if it is the crack or not its getting worse so i wontt drive it

blue smoke is def oil...sounds like uv a serious prob...is the knockin noise loud...if u get some else to start the car an u listen to the engine u should be able to hear exactly wat part the engine the knockin noise is comin from

yeh its real loud. got new engine going inn on 18th so isnt to much of a problem will just need to rebuild this one

the fact that u have no v-tec sounds like u have run it on no oil. so its just aswell u have a new engine for it. but also u say the noise goes away after time witch mite mean there aint enough oil pressour to lift the tappets propper. i would just put some oil in and see how u get on cause there is a good chance the engine is going to need a re build anyway

your engine is toast, that is rod knock, i would just plunk a new engine in there, maybe a 16B or 18C, rebuilding the engine with aftermarket parts will cost plenty, you're better off with a bigger engine.

i just think the person who had it before didnt look after it properly ive done full oil change and always made sure there is oil in it. yeh its ****ed just lucky ive got that other engine for it. will probs rebuild it over time anyway . cheers for the help guys.
