Hi all is there anyone on here running skunk 2 pro 3s. Can anyone give feedback on them. I'm going to be taking the b18 out of my 9 over the winter. Hope to build it up and aim for around the 230 bhp mark. Pro3s are an idea I'm toying with at the minute. Just wandering what setups some of you guys have or what is needed to achieve it. My current setup is
Forged pistons
Skunk 2 pro 2s
Skunk2 valve train
Skunk2 intake mani
Standard injectors
Standard throttle bodie
Aem v2
Dc sports mani
Decat
Spoon cat back

Your injectors are the biggest issue there.
I wouldnt expect much gain from the 3 unless you also do porting work.

220bhp toda c here. 12.5ish : 1

Ya I'm going to get bigger injectors. 12:5:1 seems to be best. I don't know my own ratio as I bought the engine built

Standard bore/stroke? From what I've read (I asked the same question on HT a few weeks back) the pro 3 are too big for a 1.8 really. 230 is doable with tuner 2's. Personally I would fit Pro 2's with some head work, should see 240 ish depending on dyno lol.

Don't know about bore/stroke. I'd imagine they would need alot of bottom end work to work. I'm already running pro 2s atm. As said above injectors seem to be my issue.

Sorry just noticed your injectors, yes definitely holding you back. I use VX220 turbo injectors. Made 220bhp on Tuner 2's, standard bottom end with a head skim and itb's.

Thee definitely next on my list. That sounds like a good setup. How do you find the itbs. I was debating on getting them or upgrading from my sk2 pro series intake mani to an ultra series.

They are worth it for the noise alone lol. A lot of money for minimal gains, but the noise and throttle response is awesome. If I bought another set I would use Kinsler or Jenveys. What head are you using?

That's kind of why I couldn't have them. Although I already have a spoon system so it couldn't get much louder. That's the joys of building an na motor spend alot for minimal gains. Do you have any videos on here of them in action. Do you get problems passing noise inspection on track.
Wat do you mean what head am I using

Yeah my bad on the external mic!
Sounds epic even from the pitlane, naughty noise coming out of a metro

Sounds sick mate. I'd say you have shocked a few people in it lol. As far as I know it's a B18c6 head. Porting the head would be a benefit for me would it.

There was an Impreza and a VXR who didn't want to let me past lol. Yes definitely a port would be beneficial, the inlet manifold is different between the 2 types of head so good to choose now if you're buying another inlet etc.

Ha dont think many scooby drivers want to be passed by a metro lol. I'll have to have a talk with Aonghus see what route he thinks would be best as in head work. Appreciate the advice gav

Hi mate, I had a built B18 in my last year, I made 239bhp with pro 1's! Obviously other mods to get to that stage but as a few people have said you will def need bigger injectors, I ended up on RC440's. Drove lovely too tbh.

That's really good figures matt. I take it the rc440s were plenty big for that setup

Yes they were but I was suprised to see them up at about 75-80% duty cycle (can't remember the exact figure).

Basic spec was:
B18C type R engine
Stock crank and rods
ARP rod bolts
ARP head bolts
P30 pistons (higher comp than P72's) 0.25 over bore
Ported head
Skunk2 pro series springs, retainers and valves
Skunk2 pro 1 cams
Skunk2 pro series inlet
RC440'S
Walbro 255 pump
Mugen manifold
Spoon N1 b-pipe and silencer
Mapped on crome.

Made 239 at fly, 207 at wheels with 150lbft torque. Im not saying those are gospel figures, only had it on one dyno. Car did 13 second quarters though and is a stock EK9 with interior/AC etc.

I knew someone would say that lol :)! As I said, I'm going on the graph and I know there's so many 'lying dynos' out there. But in reality it was pretty quick, pulled well and revved out nice. Had this setup in for the last 6 or so years....gone boost now ;-).

Pro 3's will work on a 1.8 but you certainly need high comp pistons. The few b18's I've built which run Pro 3 cams have a static compression of +13.0:1 Breathing mods will be key. If your after good midrange as opposed to top end power Pro 2's are probably the better choice.
