Hi guys some of you know I had issues with my sump gasket, replaced the cometic one for a honda and the sump is no longer leaking. With the sump sealed I can see now I have another leak... rear crank shaft oil seal. Great! Its a brand new cometic seal so Im a bit peeved that its leaking but Im also a bit worried about why it's failed. I'm using arp main studs and had the tunnel line bored. Could the crank be sitting slightly higher in the block? And making the seal tight at the top and lose at the bottom? Might just be fearing the worst but would be good to know if anyone has used the main studs before and had this problem?

Line bore would do as you say but the tolerance where talking about is very small that I'd suspect the seal would be fine.
Oil pump was checked for clearance on the crank snout wasn't it? As that could cause you problems you've not noticed yet....

Worth noting I'm on a cometic end seal and it's been fine, fitted to all 3 of my builds(same gasket) and it's never leaked.

You over filled the sump?
High oil pressure?

Just throwing some ideas in the air...

I'm thinking the same re line boring mate but it is playing on my mind a bit. I will pull the gearbox out again tonight and have a look I'm hoping it's me not the engine and I've not got the seal seated in the housing properly. I've got the b16b sat in the corner so if I can see a fault with the seal I'll try take the seal housing off the b and put it on.

Filling the sump seems a bit weird the level does seem to rise about three mm over the top mark on the stick. Like drop the oil and replace filter giving it a good 30 min to drain, run and re check level and make sure it bang on the top mark. drive the car a few miles and check it and its up. I'm thinking oil cooler but not 100%. must be coming from somewhere?

Oil pressure is about 20 psi at idle and up to about 60/70 psi at 4500 rpm, still running in so can't rev any higher really. This is with the oil temp at about 75 degrees in the sump.

My engine had 8k rpm in its first mile lol
Probably not wise but it still lives.

20psi on 10-40? Seems ok to me, alittle low on a factory engine but yours has had work so...
Been told that 10psi on idle is where spec is for Honda. How true that is mind

8k mate! Holy ****. I'm on 10w50 now running in miles are done. I read 10 psi as well but the guy at my machine shop said minimum of a bar for every thousand revs until the relief valve opens is an average kind of rule of thumb.

Yeah it had a funny noise, copt the hump lol

Honestly what's going to wear? Other than the rings that's all you can run in really...

One thing I've noticed is that HAMP filters drain back to the sump, I've not used an oem filter so not sure what they do but I'm sure they are supposed to hold oil.
What im getting at is how much oil does a full filter hold? Mine does the same it'll read above full randomly.
