Mis-Fire then No Spark??

I was out driving the other night and the car suddenly started misfiring. I was in VTEC when it happened, if that matters. Limped the car to a junction close by and found the HT Lead on Cylinder 4 wasn't as secure as the others so pushed that back on to the Spark Plug firmly. Had a quick scan, couldn't see much else so started it back up and it continued to misfire. I decided to try and limp the car home thinking it was just a faulty HT Lead but after about 5mins the engine just stopped. No warning lights or anything. It just died. Rolled it in the next junction and found the HT Lead on the Distributor Cap for Cylinder 1(?), Bottom Left of looking dead on to the Cap, was pretty much just sitting at the end of its housing. Reattached it but the car wouldn't spark at all. Turns over fine, it just won't start.

Just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas about the cause of it now not sparking at all? Would one shot HT Lead cause the whole ignition system to stop sending a Spark? Could the cap be done now from the Lead sitting loose and having a dodgy connection?

The Distributor Cap and Rotor Arm were replaced a week ago so I doubt it's them that's caused any issue. I think it's mostly been caused by these lose HT Leads shorting something. Distributor or Ignitor.

Cheers for any help/info.

Maybe your ignition coil bad. Poor contact HT lead at distributor cap always make ignition coil died.

If you've had a good look over it and can't find any other loose connections then try a new coil, it's fairly common for them to fail,

They are fairly cheap, I got mine from japservice parts

So it's most likely shorted the Ignition Coil? The only things loose were the 2 HT Leads. I'll replace those too since they must be worn out if they're coming loose.

The bad leads probably made your coil die, but I would also replace the ignitor at the same time, they also suffer when u get fault ignition :)

Check to see if the screw for the rotor arm has worked loose. Have seen this a few times where it's been replaced and has worked itself loose after few days

Replaced the Ignitor amd HT Leads. Started straight away. Cheers lads. Helpful as ever!
