My car is throwing a cel.

I pulled the codes and they are 20 and 23
which i believe to be ELD and Knock sensor.

I know the ELd is a result of the fuse box not
being swapped over when the engine swap was done
(b16b + ek9 ecu) but waht do I do about the knock
sensor? Where is it located and can I check it with a multimeter?
What voltage would I be looking for? Is it dangerous driving the
car with a dodgy knock sensor?

The symptoms the car had was it was slugish and when driving hard
sometimes the vtec would cut out for a second and then come back in.

Is your engine making a funny sound ? Does the engine light just come on in vtec ? You want to be careful mate engine knock can be really bad.

This is jdm-ek9, i cant be bothered logging in to my profile!

No the engine light come on after about a minute of driving, the engine sounds fine.

Where is the knock sensor? How would I check if it is the knock sensor that is bad or the wiring?

its screwed into the back of the engine block - either the ecu is picking up a lot of engine knock or the sensor has been damaged when the engine was dropped in

either way dont ignore it as the car will start retarding the ignition if it detects knock

is there any way to find out if its the sensor thats is causing trouble or the wiring

Anyone know the part number for a b16b knock sensor and where to get one?
If at all possible I would prefer not to go to honda as they will take my arm and leg!

Also, my car hesitates under throttle, if i sink my foot to the floor at about 2000rpm
the car just makes noise but doesn't really go faster unless I baby it till about 5000rpm.
Would this be the kind of problem a dodgy knock sensor would cause???

There is 2 wires coming from my knock sensor, I've read they only have 1. Which wire would be the ground?

They dont often go bad. I would check to make sure its plugged in right and also the the correct plug is plugged into it. I had a car the other day with the same 2 faults. He has plugged the evap purge plug into the knock and the knock into the evap sensor. Once those there corrected no check engine light and the car ran fine. If it is plugged in correctly check to see if the wire is ok between the ecu and the sensor. If that is ok then it could be the sensor.

actually I heard that honda knock sensors can actually be quite prone to faults. My car behaved awkwardly and suddenly going really slow and then becoming normal after reset etc, I had it crome tuned on the dyno with earmuffs to check for knock and disabled the knock sensor completely and since then it has never done it. I would suggest if you can try another knock sensor off a friend or something.

your symptons sound pretty much like mine really, mine didnt do it all the time, only a few occasions, say once a week ? suddenly turn in to a 1500 sohc non-vtec. plant the foot and sound gets deeper but not much happens. if you feather it up as you say to 5000 then floor it, its better, but still slower than it should be. I think knock sensors throwing faulty codes to the ecu. disable it or get a new one

Got it all sorted now, it was the knock sensor, it wasn't plugged in at all.

I rewired it back to the ecu and now the car is amazing, its like a completely different car!
