Hellow guys recently bought a ek4 vti, the boy i bought it off dosnt know anything about hondas, he told me the head is deffo a b18, but he dosnt know which b18 it is, i have a Skunk2 inlet, and im trying to sell it so i need to know what fitment it is, can anyome help me out to find what kind of head is on the vti?

Pictures of the engine? Under the rocker cover, so we can see cams etc... Might give us more chance of helping you

thanks for the reply, is there not an easier way? dont want to open engine to see cams, is there not a code on the S2 Inlet that will tell me if its a c4 or what?

u dont have to open the engine just take the rocker cover off ur not going to have to touch anythin else dude :naughty:

yeah i know that but cant be arsed taking rocker cover off as car is getting sold soon. car has skunk2 cams anyway so will u still be able to tell if i open it up?

b16's and type r b18c's have pr3 stamped on the front of the head.
Some type r heads are stamped p73.

I think that b18c4 (vti/sir) heads have p72 on them.

The stud pattern of the c4 inlet manifold is different also. If you compare it side by side with a b16 manifold it's easily noticeable

Yes that's right, the b18c4 heads have stamped p72, and if you look to your intake manifold or even the head you'll notice that on the dizzy side there's a round hole where if it's a pr3 head (b16b, b18c6, b18c5, b16a) you'll see a square hole......if you have a pr3 head give me a call for we talk about that intake manifold ;)

Could be either b16a, b16b or b18cr as they all run pr3 heads. Not sure on what the number after the pr3 is as some b16a heads have same as b18cr. Suspect maybe an age indicator.

Best way to find out if it's a type R head is to remove the intake manifold and look for porting around the valves. Both b16b and b18cr heads are the same.

Indeed, and necked down valve stems.

Or double valve springs are a bit of a givaway.
There was also green paint on the side of the casting from where the castings were selected for type r use. Pics in my car"s "Another ek4 racer" thread of the diffetences.
