I have a friend that used this in his stock header, do you think using these wraps really helps?

A lot of type r's from japan use this. i was wondering if you feel any difference or is just for "race look" :nerv:

Thanks for your help :thanks:

I have often wondered the same thing lol
Soppose its keeps the heat in rather than escaping into your short ram intake :)

Header wrap reduces heat transfer from the exhaust gas to the atmosphere. This means that the header, welds, material, will be running at higher temperatures than if the wrap was not present. The temperature increase alone will result in an increase of thermal stress. Whether or not the additional stress reduces the life or induces a failure in a weld or the material is dependant on many many variables, including but not limited to the header size and geometry, design, material specs, weld procedure, weld quality, header fitment.

My header came with the heat wrap from japan, and i can remove it :(

heat wraps do work, for example on a turbo car, if you dont wrap the downpipe the heat it readiates can boil the oil!! something similar can happen with a built all motor track car so i think its a good idea if you track your car. either that or get it ceramic coated.

That's quite a thread bump there chap lol
Interesting non the less..

Haha I know , was just flicking though and seen it ,
And thought I'd post that article as it wasn't long ago that I read it, should clear up the `is , heat wrap, good or bad ,

I'd say if you wrapped your 4 branch from all 4 instead of one by one that might help with temps in the bay and also not keep so much heat into the header it's self as there will be a void between the wrap, if that makes sense? It won't look as COOL as been individually wrapped also the bottom been open will pull the hot air out as you drive ?
Iv a header yet to be fitted and it's already wrapped, but I was going to take it off on till I came up with that idea,
