As per title, I like the simplcity of the earlier Hondas, I had a civic Vti years ago, and 2 Ep3s followed by a mk1 Focus Rs, thankfully it’s not gonna be a daily, any advice or buyer beware much appreciated, I’m sure I’ll be reading loads off the forum anyway.

Rust is a big one. I bought my Civic after it has been sitting up for 3 or 4 years. Put some fresh petrol in, checked engine oil, and a new battery. Started right up. They're fairly bulletproof, the B-series.

Check for any abnormal sounds, leaks, etc. Like you said, the early Hondas are simple. So if there is something wrong, theres not a huge list of possibilities.

Missed one today ffs, Bid up as high as I thought a sensible figure but go outdone by a grand,Gutted, damn things don’t seem too popular?..

Are you bidding on Japanese auctions? Many importers in the US are buying them.
 
No mate I found one on Counting cars, it sounded amazing, loads of history, well looked after too, but I needed to set a realistic budget based upon what I’d previously seen advertised for the last 6 months, I was over £1k below what it sold for and I woke up this morn8ng to an email informing it hadn’t met reserve anyway so I may have been ££££ out,
Tbh I was hoping to go to Castle coomb this weekend as it’s only an hour away from where I live but I got to work ffs, Proper annoyed too.

In Ireland, they're fetching for at least €20,000 now. They're not going to be any cheaper now either. Only up and up from here.

Yeah for sure. In 10 years time there will be so few left, I can't see these cars being available for less than the 40k mark but obviously I may be wrong. And then you will also get gimps like myself who won't sell no matter what the price is just due to the love of them :run: hope your search goes well for you soon :)
