Frankenstein Swap

Ok lads need some info on this swap, my buddy wants to do it to his vti b16a I no its either a B20B or B20Z you use but am I correct in saying neither of these engines have vtec? so there is no oil feed from the block to the head for the vtec solenoid? Any info you guys can give me would be great or if you have any good links to guides on the net. Thanks
