What grade of oil do you guys recommend running on a ep3 or k20a2 engine?
Im planning to do a mini service, looking through my honda service history its always been ran on semi synthetic 10w40 from honda , i was under the impression k20's were suited to 5w40?
Should i stick with 10w40 or change to 5w40 (got 5l of gulf competition ester oil)
My cars a daily driver with 119k, with a bit of spirited driving.
The honda handbook shows this:

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks.

Nice one mate looks like honda dealers have been right then. Opie oils say 5w40, What brand does your brother use, think im going to order shell helix 10w40.

Millers CFS. I use the same in my civic but 10-50

On a side note going to order some front and rear pads too, honda service shows ebc, what you think? Im split between them and brembo pads.

With brake pads I guess it's what your using the car for that decides the pad.

Daily driver mate with no hard braking dont need anything performance orientated.

It's not likely to make any difference then tbh. I put ebc ultimax pads in the rear of my mx5 last week. £18 posted I was chuffed! I'm used to paying like 130 for a set of pads lol

My dad uses gulf 5w40 in his, I also used it in my dc5. But as said 10w40 will be fine as well

Any differens when you take it to track or is 5w 40 or 10w 40 ok there to?

I ended up sticking with 10w40 as a daily driver. I would imagine for track 5w40 would be better as the engine will rev more freely, for track go for some ester oil.

You'd want a thicker oil for track to help pressure.
