ok i am running a b16a2 ek4 vti. next week i am away to fit my ek9 cams get the head gas flowed and match it up with an ek9 ecu.

i dont know anything about this mod as i dont know anyone that has done it.

just want to know if anyone has done this mod or got some info about it.

1. what the performance gains would be

2. will the cams run ok in a b16a2 i.e no contact with pistons.

3. will i need some ajustable cam gears or will the standard ek9 cam gears be ok.

4. and the last one will the ek9 ecu be sutible to run the ctr cams on the b16a2 engine. will the map suit as the b16b has a longer stroke than the b16a2 and cos the ignition timming be out

plz help me people if u know thanks very much- Callum

I did the same mod back when I had a EG6 (well it was not a EG6, it was a 1992 civic cx hatchback with b16a swap), I installed ek9 pistons + cams + retainers + springs.

1. Performance gain, I have no idea it all depends how you tune it, but expect a half a second difference or more in the 1/8 - 1/4 mile time.

2. They will run ok, you just need a little more of compression to gain eve more power, thin head gasket or mild the head.

3. You'll need to have cam gears if you're going to adjust the cams, this can only be done in the dyno. In my case I didn't used any cam gears because in that time there was no dyno in my country, but my butt dyno felt the difference :woot:

4. Don't use the ek9 ecu because really.... it SUCKS, for the money you can buy a chipped ecu, Phearable.net - Electronic Fuel Injection Tuning Solutions - Hondata, Neptune, Crome, Uberdata, Ectune, AEM, Honda Tuning, Widebands, Fuel Pumps, Intercoolers, Turbos, LS/VTEC, ECU Chipping, Chipped Ecus, P28 is and example. Just by changing my ecu on my ek9, (pr3 obd1 ecu with a obd2b to obd1 harness) the car was very fast, half a second faster in the 1/8 mile.

Hope this helps.

Also I found a video, its a 2002 video so don't expect to be a great video hehe,

my ex civic b16a 9000 RPM ON BOARD!

YouTube - 1992 Honda Civic 9000 RPM on board.

thanks for all the info rvm.

well i can get the ecu for very very cheap almost nothin. was just going to use this ecu till i can aford to change to obd1 and run hondata.
