Double aluminium half rad

That's part of your problem, with the heater on from start up your effectively bypassing the thermostat and radiating more heat.

Still worth chucking in a new stat, and leaving it run for a bit before cranking the heat right up
 
I do most times, just I could not wait cos it was freezing and it tuc an age to heat up, it's not a major problem
But it would be nice to have it heat up like you guys,
2-5 minutes would be super.
 
Funny got in car last night and timed how long it took to heat up with heat set to cold ,
4 minutes and as soon as I put heat on hot and on full
The temp dropped a good bit ,
But I was out in the car about 3 hours before so not sure it was stone cold ,
Will update again from cold start ,
 
Ok went out in car today from stone cold and 4 minutes into driving temperature gauge was 3 marks up from cold then after 7 -8 minutes it was right up to temperature?
So not sure if that's good or bad
Specially when lads are saying there car takes 3 minutes to reach optimum temperature?
Again I might be looking at something that's not a problem

Seems fine to me considering its winter. When's the last time you changed the thermostat and fan switch? What's it going to cost 30 quid for peace of mind?
 
Must say iv not changed them yet and your right for the peace of mind ,
For what it's worth its definitely recommend to just change them out.

I brought my honda type 2 coolant from Cox you may find it cheaper on ebay, for the stat and switch japserviceparts will do fine cheaply or ebay mate.

No worries mate. If you want genuine oem try tegiwa with discount code or if you're feeling rich buy spoon low temp stat, however I've no experience with low temp stats. I'm sure someone else can advice you mate.
