Tegwia half rad 1.3 bar
With the cold weather I'm finding the car is taken a long
time to heat up ,irish weather,
Is there anything I can do to help my car heat up quicker?
I'm using pink coolant that you mix with water,
Is anyone else having this problem?
Would honda coolant be better?
Regards leej8

Do you live in a soft water area or are you using de mineralised water?
It's much better easier and safer to just use Honda pre mix coolant,

But to answer your question, your car shouldn't take to much longer to heat up in the colder weather,
I would Get a new genuine Honda thermostat in it and see if that helps

I had the same problem last winter, replaced coolant with honda type 2 (has a lovely colour) replaced thermostat and fan switch. Car took less than 5mins to warm up in the icy cold weather.

Water is good soft type, I'm pretty sure I did not mix the coolant well ,
But yeah I will change thermostat and coolant with honda oem ,
Thanks a lot .

Car never done it with the standard honda radiator,
thanks man ,I will do that as soon as possible,
Iv heard people having to put cardboard or the likes in front of there rad when using uprated rads

Forgot to mention I'm using a standard b16b radiator, I've always thought of upgrading it to a dc2 or koyo full length radiator but I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it? Good luck mate let us know how you get on.

The standard gauge reads from the head so that should warm up quickly.
I've noticed since fitting my Tegiwa dc2 rad that the oem gauge will read temp quickly but the stack gauge in the upper rad hose takes abit longer to show any temp.

Right I was thinking about this last night ,
And I do remember having to solder the wire just before
It goes into the head , but if I remember correctly my mate was having a right laff because the solder was a big dirty
Lump lol ,don't ask ,
Would that interfere with the resistance in the wire sensor?

by the sounds off it because ur using a larger rad then standard it gives the coolant more time to cool quicker plus having colder air going through the rad will drop it down so the temp gauge will be lower then normal

You taking your temp reading from the dash or an aftermarket gauge?
The dash should read temp quickly, if it doesn't that's either broken or your stat is stuck open.

Yeah true, I'm also n/a with 1.6 sir ,iv heard people putting something in front of there rad in the winter to get themps up ,but I don't won't to do that if I can help it,

Yeah Jesse from the dash I don't have aftermarket gauge,
We heating up the top and bottom hose are hot and cold ,
So I think my thermostat is ok ,
I find if I leave my dash heating set to cold it heats up quicker,
It when it's really cold and I put my heating on hot when starting the car it takes a age to reach normal themps,
I HATE THE COLD ,LOL

Im sure you understand how a stat works but maybe just a slow day...
Stats going to stay closed until blocks reached temp(where the sensor is)
So having the biggest radiator in the world shouldn't effect how fast the block is reaching temp...

True as there is no flow on till the thermostat opens ,
I have a spare sensor I will put in and clean up the solder,
If no joy ,I will change the thermostat,
No point in what ifs,
What you said makes sense about the block and rad .

I had issues one the first forged build earlier this year.
Couldn't get temp for the life of me, stat was stuck open

Could be stuck open a little bit, I will change thermostat this week ,iv never changed the one on my car so it will be another off the list,

How far up the gauge does the needle get?

Just takes an age to get there?
When my stat was stuck open(early Jan) I'd not manage more than 1/4 up the gauge.
That's with the turbo on a half rad aswell.
Heater was noticeably cooler aswell.

Yeah Jesse yesterday it was freezing out and it tuc about 10-15 minutes to reach the middle, but it was short trip stop and go traffic,
