Yes, the title is my question, cuz mine don't match, didn't think anything of it unti jugbugz mentioned it.

Thanks
ReVHard...

NO, they are not supposed to match

The Engine Number and Chassis number should not match

In the UK anyway

errr, yeh right. Sounds like you have a dodgy.

All Hondas WORLDWIDE have matching chassis and engine number. Whether its a economy car or a type R. Even the NSX. Even LV bags etc. lol

The 7-8digits should match on the firewall and engine. Thats how you know

For example;

Chassis: EK9-#######
Engine: B16B-#######
Blue-Plate: EK9-#######

are you sure tey are supposed to match??

...ive seen many ek9s with the engine and chassis number slightly off at the end

NO they are not supposed to match, they are usually very close although the numbers are usually 20 or so out at the end. This has been evident on every EK Civic i've bought/sold and none of them where dodgy.

Mine is the same slightly off at the end as well!

Yes all the ones i have registered are usually within about 20. I would say 1 on 25 are the same. The fact yours match is a good thing as it means it hasn't ever had a new engine.
Dunx

Its normal to re-register a new engine number when you've blown the old engine.

Should I post up pics of my cars and my bros FN2? Theres a reason why the interior badge on the DC2R, FN2, NSX matches the number on the chassis, blue plate and engine. Too bad, EK9 doesn't have any interior badge.

Even my EK9 magazines show all 3 pics of the Blue plate, Firewall and engine with matching digits.

C'mon guys, you saying honda did it on purpose and put the wrong engine into the wrong chassis? And why? When they can get it right.

It seems we're undecided here, it's probably best we ask someone who works at Honda about this!

I'm sure type R dunk is right as he has imported alot of ek9's, and I'm sure
this has been a question that's been asked on the forum before by another member.

I've seen 10-15 EK9's which all have a small difference in the numbers on the blue plate and engine block (usually about 20 numbers out) and they cant all be engine swaps.

As this is an EK9 forum, why doesnt everyone check their blue plates and engine numbers and report back and see what the outcome is.......job done ;-)

mine don't match

different production line for engine and chassis?

engines are sometimes pull out of the line for Stress test i guess, or sometimes there might be faulty engines?

Just because your Chassis and engine numbers dont match this DOES NOT mean your car has had an engine swap.

This was the same on my recent EK4 aswell.

I'm with jugbugs on this though i suppose we could be wrong, in the USA atleast it matches...

Must be different in the US by the sounds of it, even my EK4 and the past EK3's I sold had slightly different numbers so was always under the impression this was normal.

Mine don't match. They aren't far off, though.
