hi guys i was wondering if u can give me some advice on whats going on with my motor. well first of all i have a 1999 civic cx EJ6 with a d16y7 USDM motor. it drove fine when i first bought it from a private seller, but he sed 3rd gear grinds when driven hard. well now after two months, whenever i drive on the freeway, the rpm would rise and the speed would slowly rise, so after a few days, it got worse, the clutch would grab onto the gears but it would overrev which it felt like it was in neutral. and from what im thinkin the clutch is almost gone since its slipping. now the second problem there is a a knocking noise when im driving. and it seems like it coming from the block. and if im right it should be a broken piston or loose bearing of some sort... plz help me out ASAP! and tell me what are the cost if im right about the damages. if this is going to cost more than 1500 us dollars, then im swaping to a b18 jdm gsr engine

Defently sounds like your clutch is on the way out. Can you explain the noise abit more, is it a rattle or banging noise? does it only happen when driving? If you rev your engine when not moving and there is no noise then I doubt its your engine.

Your clutch is finished thats for sure. if you cant do the work yourself expect to pay around $400-500 to have it done by a mechanic.

Now about this other noise, can you describe it more, does it happen when you going straight? when turning? when cruising? on acceleration? we need to know more, is it constant or does it stop at some point? can you hear it from inside the car or only from outside?

If your in the LA area hit me up i may be able to help you out.

well the noise its like a clicking/ knocking noise. you hear it around 2500 to 6500 rpm, and also in first gear also, when you drive from a stop. its not loud, but you can hear it. it only stops when i press the throtle 1/4 of the way. and you can hear it inside and front outsideand yes you can hear it when in neutral. i was wondering is it hard doing the clutch replacement? and it is forsure a diy thing right? cuz i kno someone with that kind of knowledge
