hi,all

Just wanted to share with you the dyno results from when I tuned Winston's EK9 with a hondata s300.

This clearly shows how much gain can be had by getting a custom tune for your setup.

VTEC could be lowered to 4500 rpm. In some places the gain is 20Nm. Please have a look :)

great stuff!

wish people would stop buying into the "static" ecus. There's just no way a preset bunch of parameters will be spot on for each and every car out there even if you were to equip your car with all the Spoon parts. There's just too many variables in assembly, install and even weather and available octane fuels.

Comparing NEW ECUs - an S300 WITH tuning probably costs about the same as a plug and play Spoon brain.

4500rpm? which engine is this? how much HP is it making?

Yes 4500 rpm. It was around 6000 with the Spoon ECU.

This is the stock b16b engine. You can see the horsepower figures in the left corner of the plot :)

203.7 hp :nice:

I can say that I got a new car out of it :nice:
It also has a spoon throttle body
172 nm = 127 lbs/ft
20nm = 14,75 lbs/ft

Now i´m thinking about what I can do next to tune the engine / gearbox

aside from response, would the larger throttle body increase figures?

it has the potential to increase power. It will likely help when cams/head porting comes into play - otherwise just expect a couple of whp gained currently but with a sharper response during on/off throttle.

For the engine I recommend a hondata heatshield gasket or a full kit from outlawengineering.com

I would also consider a proper crankcase evacuation setup.
http://www.ek9.org/forum/performance/3720-b-r-breather-tank-catch-can-kits.html

I would go for the:
B-SERIES CATCH CAN DRAIN BACK KIT

$265 SHIPPED

With these two mods combined your power should remain more constant/stable and the breather kit will allow the engine to rev more freely.

If you must get other sensible mods without breaking the bank, I would opt for camgears.

transmission: Close ratio gears, lightweight alum. flywheel and an Exedy 3 puck thick disc clutch will wake everything up brilliantly.

Does this heatshield gasket really work? Which one should I get, there are a few b18 to choose from and the b16b is not listed.

yes it really works.

I have it installed on my Integra-R and even use it on a D-series Civic.

You would use the one listed for the '99/'00Si or Integra-R.

i had one on my car and my OEM manifold cracked near the transmission side, i got scared and put the oem intake manifold gasket back on :( not saying it caused it but it was odd...

^^^what he said ^^^ maybe a little, but if you go to big without head work you could loose power.

Quoted for the truth.

...

Every engine build is different and required unique tuning for each. I would only purchase those "static" ECU's like mentioned above if i had all the parts for that particular tuner...

...

Good numbers as it would be expected!
