Having an issue with my eg coupe since i swapped in an obdo b16a engine .

The coolant system seems to be way too pressurized. Coolant actually sprayed all over the underside of the hood on a short drive.

I noticed the fan wasnt coming on (but the needle would never go above normal)so i changed the thermostat for a known good one, filled the system again and started it . The fan came on this time so went for another short drive but then the needle went down to nearly cold and then after the drive the fan wont come on anymore ?

Also when i try to bleed the system , coolant just constantly overflows out of the rad as if its not circulating around the engine ?

The fan switch is a low temp buddyclub switch. anyone any ideas what could be casuing this ?

Is the rad blocked by any chance? Not that I think it would cause the issue but I take it you turn the heater on while you are bleeding the system? Also is it a known good engine? Either way I would check all hoses for splits first, can you not duplicate the issue with the bonnet up?

The rad should be fine , I drained the system and filled 4.3 litres of coolant in from top of rad no problem and the car was fine when I had a different engine in up until I swapped in this b16. There doesn't seem to be any leaks now and I changed the top rad hose . Its just after driving it .
Ya I'm leaving hot fan on with bleeding it .

The car also has a bit of a misfire/ hesitation which I can't seem to figure out the issue with that ?

I don't really know the condition of the bottom end ? it's an obdo b16a1 bottom end I bought and put on a freshly rebuilt ek9 head with new head gasket . Has good compression across all 4 tho .

I had this to hesitation problem make sure that the throttle cable is well greased

Notice when your car runs hot. This can be due to the failure of a number of different cooling components.
