Before I put my Del Sol up for sale there is something I would like to sort out first incase any potential buyers ask. The car is, as far as I am aware, a 1993 UK Vti; however the engine code is B16A2 which I believe wasn't fitted until 1996 in the UK, can anybody offer an explanation ? Is it likely it has had it's engine replaced, the previous owner certainly didn't mention it to me, but it didn't have must service history when I got it.

What I know is this:

B16A2, the A2 stand for second generation motors (92-95) that came with the SIR II and the crx del sol in japan (eg9), so for me the engine code is ok, I didn't find anywhere UK specs del sol information.

So for me, your engine code is ok.

So essentially I have a better engine in it that I should do as it's a UK car? Can't complain with that.

Nope, maybe you have the B16A2 with 170 hp version , maybe your car was imported from japan ?

Had the Uk spec two piece headlights, but also has front strut brace which I'm not sure was fitted to the UK Vti; hence some of the confusion. I'm sure whoever buys it won't mind if they get 170 bhp though!

If it`s a JDM motor it should have an LSD as well, along with the 10 extra hp.

The LSD was a factory option, so may or may not have it, but yeah, the JDM engine should have 170ps. The JDM engines also don't have any numbers after the engine code. It would just say B16A.

If yours has B16A2 (or 3/4) stamped on it, it is correct.
