car not starting

Any way of checking the pressure? Does it have an immobiliser fitted?

Do you mean fuel pressure if so iv tried clamping the return hose after the fuel pressure regulator. Ya it has a cheap alarm fitted. But that would only stop something like spark or fuel or air or crank. I could be wrong but this is what I'm told. I'm going to try an ecu but mine seems fine as the cel is coming on and off as it should. Could the immobiliser still stop it or the crappy alarm

Immobiliser will usually stop it from cranking or result in no spark,
Does the spark look strong? Was the dizzy a known good one?

I don't know what a strong spark looks like but if I was to say I'd say it doesn't look strong but I could be totally wrong. When I pump the accelerator it sound like it's about to start. I might throw up a video tommorow of the spark I'm getting. I was told the dizzy is good by the lad that gave me a loan of it

If the pump is buggered and is not capable of generating pressure pinching the return line won't help you much. That's why measuring the actual fuel pressure would be useful.

Something ill have to do tommorow. Do you have a rough idea how it's done

Oifovo is right, despite you are seeing fuel at the fuel filter or fuel rail, it doesn't mean it is functioning correctly. Maybe your fuel pressure is too weak or low, and you still would see fuel coming out from the fuel filter or rail. You need to monitor this pressure to be sure.

Low pressure could be caused by a nearly dead fuel pump (still working), old/clogged fuel filter, or a bad fuel regulator...

You need a fuel pressure gauge (fuel pressure tester):
-Relieve fuel pressure on the fuel tank.
-Bolt the pressure gauge (tester) to the service bolt on the fuel filter.
-Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator, and pinch this hose.
-Key position II (ON) for 3 seconds, and start engine.

At idle, pressure should be around 40-50 psi if I remember correctly. A bit less with the vacuum hose connected.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the time to write that advice. But I got the car going yesterday evening. A friend suggested towing it to try and start it so I did and after a couple of attempts it got going. It let out serious smoke smoke when it finally got going but cleared up after a little drive starting perfect now. Still don't know what caused it. Maybe it was sitting up so long with such little petrol a bit of condensation built up or even a bit of dirt. Thanks for all the help anyway.

No problem!

Strange indeed, it sounds as it needed some fuel purging. Anyway I would ask for somebody to lend you a fuel pressure tester for peace of mind :)

It was really flooded I think from all the trying to start it. I lost count of the amount of times people tried starting it. I just think it needs to be driven daily for a while as it hasn't really seen any driving for over a year
