well i finally got round to putting my ek9 cams into my b16a2 this weekend the job all went very well no problems

as far as doing all the work if you are good with tools and have a fair idea on how an engine works you will be able to fit the cams yourself

the performance out the cams is hard to tell still running the engine in. but it feels like it has a we bit more torque bottom end once it has been run in a bit more will gun it a bit harder. plus all the parts still need to settle in and will need to let the ecu re adjust its self slightly.

the car is going to crail this weekend so will find out how much i have gained out them

Wierd man, i fitted ek9 cams to my b16a2 this weekend also lol

i could definately notice a nice difference over the stock cams!

Getting a mild tune soon aswell to get the most out of them, the torque seems better with these cams tats for sure.

down to our good old handy work shes runnin sweet as a nut lum . nice een . crail this wkend see the diff eh .

Under normal conditions, EK9 pistons will give more gains on a B16A than EK9 cams will....So i strongly recommend to both of you to get them since you already have the cams :) ,if you can afford of course, YOU WILL SEE MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!

I have done to the engine lots of things, changed alsmost all the major engine components except the pistons because they have nothing to jealous from the aftermarket forged ones, in fact they are less restrictive than aftermaket pistons compared to OEM cams and aftermarket cams.

When going for mods on a B16B, most of the knowlegeable mechanics will recommend you to leave OEM pistons or change them as the last mod if you are not yet satisfied(don't think so :D). For me is an unnecessary and costly move to make. Just my advice :nice:

Did you change the valves and valve springs that you removed the whole head?

blinx i didnt fit the ctr inlet manifold but will change the stock one soon no monet left now lol

vtec6000- yes i changed the v-springs and retainers. thats what took most of the time to do and the valve stem oil seals.

but all in all i think the job took about 7 hours

In order for ek9 cams to work properly in my knowledge, a 3/10 gasket is needed to increase compression. Maybe i`m wrong though. Good job man! Let us know how it goes!

yes i know you need to up the compression to run them at there full. the only thing is all the money it costs to get the head work all done by the time you buy the cams and all the rest of the stuff you could prob buy a b18c so on the b16a2 i dont think its worth doing all that work for so little gains. cos all in all i got my cams v/springs retainers and fitted for £350 so if i dont get much gains its not the end of the world.

can anyone tell me if i would need to get a re-map to run my cams and would it be worth it

to take full advantage of them u would need a remap. if it would be worth it for the gains u would get i wouldnt be too sure.

just to let you know i was at crail raceway on sunday to test my cams. the weather was so bad the rain didnt stop there was no traction at all. the cams def give you more torque and top end power. on a good dry day my 0 to 60ft time is about 2.4 sec but in the rain it was about 3.6 so thats how little grip there was. and before the cams i would cross the line with a top speed of about 92mph now in the wet with the new cams i was still crossing the line at 92mph and wasnt able to get the foot right down till 3rd gear so they cams must be working very well. wish it was dry just to see what times i could really run. i done a 16.4 in the wet witch i think is not bad
