Buying second hand engine (advice)

Hi

Been searching the forum and have found detailed threads about buying second hand cars.

My problem is I'm considering buying a b18c. Engine but the car has been written off so driving it to test is going to be hard.

The guy claims the engine has been rebuilt and mention parts used but has no receipts or papers which doesn't help. I've asked if he's from any forums but waiting for a reply

I'll post the link to it off ebay and if anyone could give me advice on what to check would be much appreciated.

If I go to look at it I will be taking a mechanic with me as when excited I'll usually buy anything.

Yea he says he wasn't planning on selling it. It was done 300miles ago so not too long ago.

I'm still going to check it out cos I'm half idiot and quite laid back. That's why I was asking for any tips on things to check.

Going to check compression of engine and do the usual check engine light and oil.

gonna ask if he had any receipts or at least emailed invoices for parts.

Going to take rocker off etc out to look out for. Any advice helpful
