Anyone know what might be wrong with my dash?

The issue I'm having is the air from the blower doesn't seem to change direction or is pretty weak even on max. Its a 2000 EM1 and I'm aware that the climate control is from the EK4. The climate control has ALL the plugs plugged in. The little display is fully functional, but it doesn't match whats actually happening haha.

I've had a few EKs in the past, but it feels like it shouldn't be this terrible. The previous owner did say its a facelift dash, so I dunno if that makes a difference.
 
is it pinned a different way to prefacelift? Might be a simple change of wiring
