Alright guys,

On the lookout at the moment for some good aggressive camshafts but not sure which brands or stages to start looking at first...

I remember jugbugz metioning TODA cams in a thread that i cant seem to find and he said that the transmission to VTEC with these things on was amazing, but i know TODA stuff can be pretty expensive :(

Really lookin for somethin thats gonna give a real kick, any help appreciated guys :nice::nice::nice:

what other mods do you have? what other mods do you plan on doing? what is your ultimate hp goal and use for the car?

To get aggressive cams, is easy, to make them work well is another, you need to have the enough compression to "move" the aggressive camshaft, please list your mods so we can help you :)

Cheers guys, mods so far:

J's racing intake
Cat back 5zigen miracle fireball
DC Sports De-cat

Mods to come (in this order):

5zigen header
ECU
Cams
Changed gear ratios to improve acceleration
Intake manifold & throttle body

After that suspension & handling mods planned, but will also continue work on the engine once i begin to realise what mods are further needed to reach my goal (neck snapping acceleration:D). Derfinately gonna stay on the N/A route though.

Really lookin for maximum acceleration & quite happy to lose top speed, as I rarely go anywhere near the possible top speed, being that i use it primarily for fast road use.

Any advice really appreciated on this guys, really will help me to realise some of the mods/path to take with my mods..:nice::nice::nice::nice::nice:

The key word is "agressive" cams. :D A very good choice for agressive cams are the ones I'm using on my setup, the Skunk2 stage 2. Lots of power when vtec kicks but they require proper tuning.

The header you are planning to get is the one I have also and its a great mani for midrange(You will notice a nicer engine tone as well :D), an excellent choice for the ECU is Power FC, but make sure to have access to someone who can tune that thing right!. You denifitely need a bigger throttle body with the cams I mentioned, but I wouldn't spend my money on an aftermarket Intake mani as the OEM one is not restrictive for heavy mods.

Now the last and the best, the gear ratios! I haven't touched my ratios yet, not sure if I will cuz I'm satisfied for the time being.....but this is what can give you the "neck snapping acceleration" you want. On the torquless B16B, the short gear ratios is by far the best thing you can do to raise your acceleration

Here is my advice: Mod your intake-header-exhaust systems along with the gear ratios first. This might be enough for you. In case you need more, then touch the rest :nice:

I'm selling my untouched and yet to receive TODA C and A cams, for Skunk2 Pro 1 cams. i've researched a bit and think this is one of the best for mild application. Although I'm still deciding between Skunk Tuner stg2 and Skunk Pro stg1.

Another reason is because they are much newer in technology compared to others, and make more power with their fast ramp technology. Buddy club is also good, but most of their cams make Seemless powerband, so you don't feel that vtec kick... It's not bad considering your making power everywhere.

Stg1 and some stg2 (like Skunk Tuner series, TODA, etc) are good for mild setups with stock CR. your limiting factor is CR.

If you want to take it further, then much more work is needed like seriously raising your CR above 12.5:1. Otherwise it's useless putting any cams that are larger.

The problem with overcamming is it will not run smooth and wont make the expected potential power gains from that particular cam and not much difference compared to say a cam that is 1 stg lower. It will still make more power but not much and not as smooth.
Undercamming is also not good, as it would cause detonation and create unbalance.

Your choice of cams should be determinded on how far you want to mod your engine. Take into account that, by increasing the power on your already efficient B16B will have to come of a cost of drivability with anything above stg1 and some stg2 cams... which is normal considering all the mods like below are needed;

Above stg2 cams for B16B
-Port polish
-Larger exhuast(free flowing) 2.5"
-Intake mods(free flowing)
-Increasing CR

by doing all these mods, your choice of piston specs, porting specs, TB size etc, will need to be perfectly calculated to match in order for it to run smooth and make nice power band. You'll also need a free flowing INTAKE and EXHUAST. But you already have a free flowing INTAKE. Also going beyond stg2 cams will require 2.5" exhuast for sure for a 1.6L

Remember, BALANCE is something that HONDA has done from factory with our stock motors, you need your COMBINATION to be BALANCED, not 'bigger is better' <--thats stupid.

Remember your stock CR is only 10.8, and the best suited application for that CR is Stg 1 cams. Even Skunk Pro 1 cams are a bit too big for stock CR. Around 11.5CR more or less would be better suited.

An easy way to increase power is to stroke the motor and add stg1 cams, as this will prove more reliable and smoother for daily driving, if thats what you want... This will also give you less worries about your TUNER. Oh, and don't forget the amount of TORQUE you get with a bigger displacement motor. The B18C is regarded as one of the best all-round motors in the world with good bottom end combined with a top end whack.

hope that helps mate. :nice:
Anyone want to buy my TODA C cams?
