2000 ek4 limiter issue

Not had my ek4 long, was sold to me as a bit of a project, now having spent a month sorting the issues and getting it moted and using it daily I have an issue

It limits in every gear at 7900... Pretty sure if my memory serves me correctly that it should be higher than this, also comes on vtec at 5k in second and third and 5800 4th and fifth

Spec is b16a, skunk 2 pro series inlet,top fuel 0-400 induction pipe, pipercross foam filter, japspeed manifold,oem cat, spoon b pipe and gen 2 spoon n1 backbox and running standard p2t obd2b ecu

Can't find any trace of a vtec controller or any other wiring been messed with

Anyone got any ideas where to start with this
 
My friend had a similar problem on B16A. Isn't that ECU from the car with an automatic gearbox? They have different map than manual versions I think.
 
Checked it with a aftermarket rev counter and it was showing the same figures as the standard clocks

Swapped clocks for another set and it now revving and limiting and vtec kicking in where it's supposed to
