Think the only deference is the SIR II is that it has a limited slip diff. I could be wrong though.

Loads of people used to do this, But if you ask me, which you have i would say don't. At both ends of the spring they are made with flats and the springs sit perfectly into a recess on the shock. Cutting a bit off will make your spring not fit in your shock properly and you risk the spring...
