Just installed a K-Tuned Pro Circuit short shifter. No issues on installation and throws are short just as I wanted them. My only concern is when engaging 1st gear.

When putting in 1st gear, I have to use some force, more than normally needed to put in a gear. If i dont do that the gear seems to not engage properly and when i release the clutch it grinds.. This happens only in 1st gear. No issues with the rest of the gears. Mechanic said this is normal due to the way the gear stick is designed and just need to get used to it. I tried Googling around to see if i can find any other info in this regard but no joy.

I know a few of you guys have this type of short shifter installed and just wanted to ask if anyone experienced this.

Thanks

Hey Luger,

I've got a k-tuned short shifter and I can't say I've had a problem with selecting first gear, but I would Check that the spacing on where the shifter bolts to the gear linkage is correct, if it's not spaced right you might not be getting the right throw.

I found when I fitted mine I needed to play with the spacing to get it just right.
Hope this helps

Hi B16Swt,

Thanks for your input....much appreciated.

I will have a closer look at this spacing thing and see if fine tuning this might sort the issue. The weird thing is I can feel that there are no issues as such when putting in 1st gear as the throw feels right and shifter also feels in place. Its just that i need give that extra force on the shifter when putting in first gear. When i put in 1st gear with "normal" force, everything looks fine and engaged well but as soon as i release the clutch the gear grinds :confused::confused:

It's baffling to say the least as i have searched everywhere on the Internet and have not found anyone complaining of such an issue :(:(:(

Thanks once again.

Seems that the spacing was actually the issue that was making 1st gear grind as you said. All gears engage perfectly now and actually have a sweeter shift feel to it.

Thanks once again for the tip :win::win::win:
