I put my d16z6 in my ej9 over the weekend and I got it to run and drive but im having a few problems
-At 1500-1600 rpm the idle fluctuates
(tried cleaning the fitv) (cleaned IACV before I put in the engine) ill link a video ignore the tapping im adjusting the valve clearances tomorrow.

-Seems to be running quite rich
Thanks Nik

Okay so I checked my engine management codes and I got 1, 15 and 21. O2 sensor, vtec solenoid and ignition output signal.

You used the ej9 loom didn't you? Did you wire the vtec in correctly to the correct pin on the ecu? Also I think ignition output signal is dizzy related.

02 sensor, is it plugged in lol? That would explain the richness you describe.

Yes I used the d14 loom and I'm pretty sure I wired in vtec fine, I did double check and it seems to work fine although I've only been in vtec a few time as I didn't want to rev the engine too high before I do the valve clearances.

I did swap the internals of the dizzy with my d14 one as it was easier than wiring in the d16 one and the d14 dizzy was working perfectly on the old engine.

The o2 sensor is in but the one that came with the engine didn't have a good thread on it and it did pop out, so I used the d14 sensor it seemed identical and was working perfectly on the d14

I will try to clean the 02 sensor tommow and test it
And I will double check the connections in the dizzy and the vtec wires
Thanks

Well I cleaned the o2 sensor, checked the vtec wiring and the dizzy wiring and now thats all good.
The only code is now 14 for IACV and I think its cause I may have damaged the pin that goes into the ecu plug :/

Found the problem the pin on the ecu end was not in a good way so I jumped it straight from the harness cable into the jumper connection part seems to be working great now and the engine management light is now off :)
Still seems a bit rich but I think I need to actually open it up now that ive done the valve clearances

Yeah injectors are right and timing has been checked and all seems fine however I think its burning oil, guessing valve stem seals :/

Glad you got it sorted mate!
Did the things i said help?
Yeah could be stem seals or piston rings. Is putting out some smoke on WOT? Has it used much oil since you filled it up?

Ben

Yeah thanks for the help booosh, im not 100% sure but my friend was following me and said I puffed out black smoke and it smelt oily and I was around 3/4 throttle around 6k rpm. Its lost oil but im not sure if that cause a few sump bolts were slightly loose and the sump plug washer needed changing.
Also i used cheap halfords 10w40 part synthetic (just to run in/clean the engine) and it seems really thin would this be a problem?
Ill be putting better oil in when I do a full sevice next week any recommendations?
I filled it yesterday and drove 135miles so ill check it again later hopefully hasn't lost much :/
