Mattyssb's black caged ITB'd K24 EK9

Engine turned up yesterday :))

Also had a genuine honda K24 headgasket turn up ready to swap the heads over this weekend

Also got a P2R billet k24 crv engine mount ready to drop the engine in when the car comes back from paint :D

And a ktuned billet adjustable stat housing so i can still use my mishimoto full lenght rad

Time to get the engine stripped down today, and swap the head to the k20a2 one

Was really surprised when I removed the rocker to find that the size different between k20a2 and k24a3 valve springs and retainers
The k20a2 ones are double the size!
Quite glad i decided to swap out the head now

All cleaned and ready to fit the head tomorrow, brand new OEM head gasket placed over :D

Then these guys turned up haha

More updates tomorrow

Bores looking pretty healthy, im really happy with the inside of this engine so far.

Size difference of the k24 and k20 valve spring+retainers

K24

K20

Got the head on and torqued down to spec

Rockers and cams in and all bolted down, really awkward job that was Haha

Brand new OEM chain, tensiner, oil pump and oil pump chain, shoes and tensioner are it way to me, hopefully fit in the week :D

Great build, love all the fabrication you've done.
Did you make the catch cans etc yourself?

After all the bits turned up, decided i better get started on fitting so..
First Sump off, k24 balance shafts need to be removed.

Offered up the k20 pump to see what needs modifying..

As you can see a fair bit needs shaving, about 1cm deep into the fin part of the pump.

Shaved down enough to clear.

Next up, needed to block up an oil way in the middle of the block, luckily its threaded so just need to find the right size bolt.
Removing the restritor cap was a pain but found drilling it and pulling the drill bit out popped it right out.

The hole on the left is the one you need to block

After thats done and the pump is fitted, its time to fit the new chain, tensioner and shoe.
No timing up needed with the k20 oil pump i believe.

Done! Just waiting on a k20 windage plate which you do need, because youve removed the balance shafts haha

Timed up the engine now with a brand new chain and tensioner..

Dont mind the cable tie, needed to hold it and try and grab the tensioner from the other side of the room haha

Tensioner on..

Done!

That's all pretty straight forward stuff really!
What sort of figures are you expecting from it?
Rev limit, compression ratio, power?

Yeah man! Really simple if you just want a stock build that will make good reliable power, for the same price as a normal k20.
From other set ups like this ive seen, they've been around 250-260hp/205-215ftlb
All dependant on bolt ons
Its should rev to about 8k maybe a little higher, but because of the torque the higher rev range isnt needed as much.
