My Ek9 track car build up

Another small update
Transported the cage to the work shop

And painted it championship white....

Looks alright that!
Fitting was easy I assume? I'm torn between going full weld in hobby or just sticking a bolt in like this eventually.

Cage looks awesome! really tidy work

Ditto but I've decided on weld in, looking at the prices I might aswell go the whole way and do it all, i doubt its ever gunna come back out really, point of no return!

Yeah a bolt in would mean I can fit it, a weld in I'm going to want a pro this time round so extra costs and down time.
Will see what happens I suppose. Would want a fairly simple cage to keep the weight/costs down, I doubt I could make use of the full through the bulk head beasts the rally cars etc run anyway.

Yes quite easy to fit, you need to weld in the foot plates obviously but that's not massively difficult, or alternatively if you didn't want to weld them in you could use a proper 2 part adhesive like the type used for fixing car body panels (massively strong stuff)
I welded mine though.

This cage fits really snug to the roof and pillars.
I would of liked to of done a weld in but it kind of didn't seem worth it for what I want it for and the re sale value and ease if I ever sell up appealed to me

That's good to here.
As you say footplates are easy enough, regidity still good with the bolts holding the cage in rather than a weld? Suppose you could weld the feet in if you wanted? Seems against the whole idea of bolt in but welding the feet beats welding the whole cage lol it's the hard to reach places that's hard work!

I've not bolted everything up tight yet, but I'd imagine it should be pretty rigid,

can't imagine welding the feet would give much or any real advantage over just welding the plates and bolting through them.
It also ties in to the b pillar via the seat belt mounts which is a bonus.

A couple of pics showing how tight it fits to the headlining

My thoughts where the bolts shifting in the holes slightly.
I change my mind far too often to order anything ATM lol

cant imagine it would really, the holes are quite a snug fit for the m10 bolts. There's 22 bolts that fix the cage to the body also... Should just about hold it

Small updates,
Got some of these to go with the hard race lca's

Got some of this, nice messy stuff!

Built up the rest of the front suspension

Rolled the arch lips slightly, cleaned and painted

Rear suspension build up next, after the cavity waxing is done

Car is looking sick.. Love the attention to detail.. Can't wait to see it finished!!

Thanks, I can't wait either, it's taken so long due to the lack of spare time to work on it.

Still waiting on a few parts before the suspension goes on the rear, since the last update I've just been doing bits and pieces

Underbody waxed the floors

Started sorting a few things inside the car

Sand blasted and primed a few brackets that had been left behind

Hopefully some better progress over the weekend
