Another one on its way to the UK!

Hi Ryan and B16 mini, many thanks for this solid piece of advice .......I will take a look at the underseal threads and I think its definitely a must. I don't intend on using the car through the winter but garage space is tight so she might be on the drive!

I guess its on the threads but what is the best product to seal with and how long do you think the whole job done correctly would take? thanks:nice:

No problem :)

There's a fair few decent options to go for. I went for Dinitrol after researching it and I'm glad I did. I did mine 4 years ago and it's still holding up strong.

It's a 2 stage underseal. 2 products need to be applied and it never 'sets' solid and always has a soft feel so that it doesn't crack and also repairs itself from stones etc.

Check this out to get a better understanding of it :)

To add to what Ryan has shown in his thread it's very important to get plenty of cavity wax inside all the box sections and gaps. For this you want to use dinitrol 3125 or bilt hamber dynax s50.
The floor pans and arches don't need the two stage system, it has no benefit here as there is already heavy factory spray sealer here so a coat of underbody wax is ample.
you only need to use the 2 stage system around the seams and edges where penetration in to joints is needed.

That is ultra clean...GREAT buy. Your son will be very jealous!

As others have said, make sure its well protected before seeing UK roads.

My dad thought I was a "daft" buying a 13 year old Honda at the time I bought mine. He then drove it numerous times hard over the first month...reminded him of his older cars!

great find. looking forward to more pictures.

Hi, yes totally agree with everyone's advise - I have decided to go with the Dinitrol 2 stage system also cavity wax and have found someone fairly local that does this kind of treatment. Unfortunately it's not going to be cheap...... I was thinking of doing it myself in a mates garage over the weekend (he has a ramp etc...) however I'm really nervous of taking the car apart/ trims out etc.... as usually something, clips, fixings etc get broken if you don't know what you are doing in relation to how the thing is held together. Also the guy I spoke to advised the first treatment should be left for 10hrs plus to 'go off' slightly prior to adding the second coat or the second coat 'moves around' a bit too much during application.
I'm going to get loads of decent pics to show the nice standard of the bottom before it gets covered - so if I ever come to sell it will be clear it has a clean underside.

LOL....ok so you and your dad understands why I'm doing this :nice:.....I wish my wife understood!!;)

Right now the 9 is floating round the South China sea - thankfully on a boat :))

By the way....nice work on the Rocker covers! Can I ask where you get the Wrinkle Red paint as my lad is wanting to do his on the EK4, thanks.

Thanks to everyone else's positive comments!

Nearly here.....long wait but its gone quite quickly !, given an ETA of 24th Sept into Southampton, hopefully within a couple of weeks it will be on the road. After such a long wait i need to enjoy it a bit :nice:, then off to be undersealed before the winter hits in.....

A few more pics that i didn't post before

LOVELY FIND !!! man if my dad decided to buy an EK9.. I'd either never talk to him again or insist I can drive it each night.
your son must be loving it !!

I remember my Dad driving my EG6 after saying "Honda's are famous for not having that much torque aren't they " .... so i had to make it take it out.
He took it out with me in it and couldn't believe it he kept hitting the limiter saying "it just feels like it will rev forever" haha.
he said it reminded him of his Twin Carb Mini Cooper from the early 70's that had 160hp. I think he's then respected the fast honda's ever since where as before he didn't really see what all the fuss was about.

Seriously you are going to love it !! totally different animal to the EK4 :)
happy for you dude !

LOL!......my son is taking it very well tbh......he has suggested he goes on my insurance!! I think he's kinda proud to have given me the steer on the car :gav:
Its a long time since I had a petrol car and it was driving my sons EK4 and talking to a middle age guy from Bristol that has a old Peugeot 205 GTi as a daily and a Renault GT Turbo as a weekender that got me seriously thinking......so the Honda was easy choice once I'd looked into it

Seriously...I can't wait to get the 9 and feel very lucky to have found a nice clean example

She was looking good mate, I only had a quick nosy around it but did look straight...good buy!

There were a couple of GTR' and a AE86 next to it!

I have a photo on my phone, I'll try and figure out a way of getting it up on here!

Hi Guys, sorry to go back round this one...just want to get it right!
The 9 is going to be fully under-sealed soon, just need a little info - is there ANY drain holes or the like that I should avoid blocking??
Currently lined up to do the following -
Bumpers off, sills off, splash guards off, exhaust off, exhaust shields off.
Dinitrol Clear cavity wax- full underside, box sections, filler neck etc, underside of bonnet and boot.
Dinitrol black on underside
Stone chip in arches

Anything else should I focus on or watch out for??

Torque GT now have bought the Dinitrol system and its only them and one other classic car restorer in the Southwest to do Dinitrol

I will proceed with the interior out and all panels sealed once I have had a go and before the winter fully sets in....

Thanks for any info :nice:
