Help!! Engine noise

So my engine has started making a noise, Sounds like a sort of scrubbing noise, only does it between 3000 and 3500 revs, sounds like it's coming from near the alternator area, I have a video but won't let upload it from my phone so will do it on the computer when I get a minute, thanks
 
What engine is it?

Check the belt tensioner, see if you can get any movement on the alternator pulley by gently wiggling it with a pry bar also check the crank pulley to see if the harmonic rubber damper part has broken down,

I've had an Evo crank pulley make strange cracking noises at only certain rpm, when I got it off it fell into two pieces
 
Does the engine hesitate or gain any extra vibration when it makes the noise?
 
Hi thanks for your reply, I should have said its a b16b, I am not home just now but will check when I am home later
 
Not going to lie I couldn't tell you if it vibrates when making the noise, will have a look when I am home
 
Always hard to tell from vids but definitely sounds belt related, if nothing's obviously loose I'd pop the alternator belt of and run the engine up quick see if it still makes the noise :)
