EK9 Race Base

Still got loads of work to go on the mani haha! Only used some WD40, wet and dry sandpaper and some scotchbrite so far. I've got some polishing wheels and autosol to finish the job and get a proper mirror shine!

Finished polishing the J’s mani the other day, really pleased with how its turned out. I’ve ordered fresh gaskets and bolts etc, just waiting of the exhaust from Sumo Power now!

I’m not sure whether to get s J’s intake instead of the Mugen so it all matches haha!

I also ordered some sheet aluminium for a lip protector/splitter, quite looking forward to doing that!

Nice job on the manifold, just got to try and keep it clean now!

:thanks: Not sure what the best way to keep it nice is tbh. Guess I'll just have to wipe over it each time I clean the car!

Great looking ek9 man, but didnt race base ek9s not have air con, power steering or tinted windows?

How long are you waiting on your exhaust from sumo power of you don't mind me asking? I ordered bits for my eg off them a couple of months ago at this stage and still no sign of them. :(

I'm not sure tbh. Mine doesnt have ABS, airbag, electric windows and I'm sure the Recaros were added at a later date (it would suggest the low seat rails being fitted)?

Sumo Power have taken 3 months and its still not here yet. I first had to wait for their container to be full to leave Japan, now the ETA has been delayed till the 16th and thats before its shipped to me :angry2:

When I first got in contact with them I was told around 6 weeks, Now he says they have missed the container and will have to be shipped on their own but still doesn't know when that will be. Iv got no new ETA and I've to wait for them to be sent to Ireland after they arrive to him too. :angry2:

Its so frustrating as my old system has been blowing for ages now, sounds so crap haha!

Recently done a few more jobs to the EK9. Finally found a replacement ARC sticker for my intake pipe, gave it a quick machine polish and fitted it. Also got my manifold on, really like how golden its turned with the heat.

I was able to start to make my lip protector/splitter.

With the template nice and accurate for all the cut outs needed the metal was cut and then my mate and I came up with some bracket ideas. These were then cut to shape as well.

I decided to pick up on the 2 towing points, the holes were drilled and then the brackets riveted to the splitter.

Next job is to spray it black, and apply the ray rim to my front lip to stop any vibration.

Lovely job on the splitter, a couple of stiffing ribs might be needed tho, I've seen similar ones flap at speed!

Thanks! The rear lip of the splitter has been given a 90 degree bend to try to increase the stiffness, we're also adding some doublers to try to get it as stiff as possible. You might be able to see 2 holes in it near the front edge where we're picking up on some mounting holes on the chassis as well. Doing all we can to stop it moving about haha!

Cant believe how good that manifold has cleaned up, i must try that on my PLM.

engine bay is looking mint now

Manifold did surprise me tbh! Just need to keep it nice now.

I've got a nut and washer dress up kit on order for the engine bay, along with a silicone hose kit and DC2 alloys rad soon as well :nice:
