Good morning all,

I'm currently in the process of breaking down my current Honda to fund for an EK9. I like to be a bit different with car's so my intentions with an EK9 would be to do a H2B conversion...

Obviously an EK9 has a B16 engine and my current Honda has a H22A7 engine which is low mileage, smoke free and runs like a dream...

My questions are:

Would it be worth while, selling the B16 engine and gearbox, getting a S80 gearbox from an Integra?

Is there a kit I can purchase for the H2B conversion?

Comments welcome! Thank you.

I'm thinking, my h22a7 engine, S80 gearbox, buy a H2B kit which has the clutch pressure plate, Flywheel and mounts required... Then it's a case of sorting a manifold as the engine would be tilted forwards as well as sorting an ECU and getting a remap done... Does anyone know if I will need to relocate the Alternator at all?

Hi I have done the h2b conversion into a dc2 it has now been removed because I went with k24 k swap from my experience you would want a 4.4 final drive maybe s80 or s9b etc , I used the EVO kit for the conversion which comes with the alloy flywheel and sits the engine lower so the bonnet shuts, the alternator needs to be moved and if you want power steering you need a custom bracket so it all runs from one drive belt, you would need to modify the exhaust manifold or buy a swap one, and I bought a aftermarket sump that sits at the right angle, you will need to modify the wiring harness as well, hope this helps.

There is a fair bit to the conversion but it is fast and has lots of torque but I do think the K-swap sits better other than the ground clearance, but would cost a bit more I think most people would say budget £7000.

Thanks for the tips! All sounds helpful for the journey I'm about to take on!

Budget wise I am not really fussed... But I like the sound of a H2B given I already have the H22A7 engine

sorry for the post hijack, I would be interested to know how does the h22 compare to a b18c/b16b?

Just a lot more torque it pulls out of v-tec like the b18/b16 in v-tec , mine was fully built so it revved to 9800rpm!!

Nice! The reason I ask is I raced a eg h22 the other week in my b16b ek9 with breather mod. From a launch I absolutely left it, it couldn't catch up. I was very suprised, I expected the outcome to be the other way round. From a 3rd gear pull we were neck and neck then I started edging forward after 4th. My guess is his car wasn't running right, was a lot of fun though!

He was probably spinning!!! your right I suspect his engine was not running right, mine was not that slower than a e46 m3.

Cheers for the replies... And my accord with a h22a7 seen off every b16 I've raced and only struggled against a 210bhp dc2 with a b18c.

Yeah it was fast I took the conversion out, got it sitting in the garage, just had some things I did not like with the conversion, the cam belt cover didn't fit right because of the different engine mounts me being very finicky, I have now swapped the engine to a k24 with turbo, check my build thread :nice:

Right,

I've done this in an eg6. Used the PLM kit up until now (2 years) but recently bought a QSD kit second hand in America for €480 delivered to Ireland. Very cheap IMO.. Reason I bought qsd kit is I'm not to happy with the Plm one and the hardware is very cheap..

I don't daily my car any more. I just use it for track and drag racing. I've done 11.9 second 1/4 mile with mildly tuned engine, it has pro 1 cams, standard bottom end except for balance shaft removal and then inlet and exhaust set up changed.

Bang for buck it is hard to beat this conversion. I'd recommend from the start that you use an alternator relocator. They are cheap and save you having to mod the chassis leg or headlight on eg chassis anyway. I'd go qsd kit over the Evo kit as you can use your own b series engine mounts and flywheel which is handy. And depending on what you plan on doing with car I'd go for the 4.7fd as that's what I use and just has constant pull thru all the gears.

If I can be of any other help just shout..

I would agree with buying the QSD over the Evo kit my kit worked fine after I machined some of the block so the clutch slave cylinder fitted in the same place as it would on a b series, I found for daily driving the 4.4fd worked better with the extra torque you don't need to rev it so much to go as fast!!!
