Ste's E92 M3 coupe

Pics and videos from Anglesey
A really poor video of a exhaust sound run.

A poor video of a transition drift around rocket

I'm hoping my mate got some footage as he was driving behind me!

Car is looking really nice, bet it was a bit of a handful on track in those conditions?

That unit looks amazing, handy space to have if its your pals.

Anything else in store for the car?

It wasn't too bad actually mate.

No it's not mine mate, just a friend had use of it.

Yeh a few bits and bobs, something's I'm not 100% on yet.

I've been meaning to do this since I got it 4-5 months ago but the crappy weather and long work hours had stopped me.

Enjoy :)

Ordered some front tyres, gone for the same as the rears michelin pilot super sport. Gone slightly wider too to match the wider wheels so 255/35/19

Today I've been around the Evo triangle and was grinning from ear to ear.
Some pics from today

Well I was bored today so I went for a little drive, found a decent place for a few pictures and thought I'd give my iPhone 6 camera a go.

Had a little go at some editing too

Thanks lads :D

Another small package arrived today, only something small but I hated the chrome so it had been on the to do list!

I did consider wrapping the Oem ones black but I preferred new items.

SSDD wing vents in black.

Assembled

Fitted

I'm still trying to sort the bonnet vents, so I'll get better pics once they are done.

I had my bonnet vents and exhaust tips done black today, so here's a few better pics of the exhaust and vents done.
The car isn't clean but you get the idea!

Nice m3 wouldn't be mad on the carbon, wheels suite it down to the ground, much is the tax on that for the year in the UK if you don't mind me asking

Compared to Ireland at 1800euro a year for a e92 m3 it's not to bad lol, much more plans for the m3

Tempted in a diffuser next!

As I'm going to the ring in 10 days I thought I'd make a cheap camera mount.
I just thought I'd share incase it will help anybody else.

I wanted to have it central in the car next to the driver, so I decided on a headrest mount, It can be used on drivers or passengers seat & face forward or backward. I prefer the drivers seat as once the drivers weight is on the seat you get a nice stable camera.

Get a length of 25mm tubing and drill holes for the headrest posts

Then fit some grommets

I used one of the adjustment mounts for my go pro suction cup, obviously you can use/make many different types of mounts easily.

Pop some black plastic caps in the ends

And all done (I'll probably wrap it in some black cloth tape too)

Fitted in car

I know cameras are supposed to be banned from the ring but I'm just going to try my luck as a lot seem to be getting away with it, I'll always use it on track anyway.

Total cost was maximum £15

Just thought i'd post some pics of my nurburgring trip last week and some of the cars/things i spotted at and around the ring :)

My car averaged 21.2mpg for the whole Journey, i covered 1625 miles in the week as i drove down to folkstone to get the train and we went for days out to various places close by (Koblenz, Cochem, Cologne etc) not too bad considering the autobahn speeds.

As it was my first time at the Nurburgring i decided to take it easy and not get too carried away, so i resisted the urge to fit semi slicks and left the car on road tyres (MPSS)

The Autobahns are great, a real refreshing breath from UK roads but even so they where still pretty busy and i only managed 182mph before having to brake hard despite many attempts, there was definately more left in the car though!

So, the whole reason for the trip. The Nurburgring is immense, the undulations/speeds/variance of corners/camber are great but what really took me by suprise is the elevation changes, no video or game seems to show that.

First lap, took it easy as the girlfriend was in the car, i found the track pretty forgiving with plenty of clear parts you can see its safe to accelerate hard. you need to be aware of the tight corners that sneak up on you though and due to my lack of expreiance at the ring i was stabbing at the brakes in lots of places i really didnt need to, still i made it round in one piece doing a 9mins 32sec despite the brakes not being very happy!
Video of me going past at 2.44 here:

Second lap, slighty quicker and slightly better ideal where i was going, but still lots of unnecessary braking and letting of the throttle with plenty of traffic. 9mins 26secs. Brakes still not happy but alittle better due to less unnecessary braking.

Third lap, Quicker again but still so much to learn about the circuit, got held up lots and started to get frustrated at the people who don't use there mirrors! 2x accidents also slowed me down, starting to see how impossible it is to get a clear lap! Brakes where much happier this time, but still over using them. 9mins 20secs.

Forth lap, I thought this was my fastest lap but due to traffic it was not. The car felt its best on this lap and it wasnt too hot for the tyres, the brakes also felt spot on as i tried to brake less aggressively to keep the girlfriend happy.
I was pretty gutted about being held up on this one! Still it yielded a 9mins 2secs lap.

Fifth lap, the tyres are a great all round tyre, but on the last day it was very hot and they where struggling with the heat, couple that with being held up a few times (slower cars and accidients) and my last lap was far from where i'd hoped it would be. I told myself anything under 10mins and i'd go home happy with a intact car, we all know you all wish for more though so i was dissapointed with my last lap(fifth) of 8mins 55secs.

Video of that lap here:

I may try some better brakes and cup tyres next time i visit, but one thing is for sure, there will definately be another visit there!

So as I said I kurbed my front wheel slightly on the euro tunnel train and the wheels needed refurbing, so I had them powdercoated satin black (like the oem gts wheels)
Results....
